S9 Autoset usage not resetting; shows 24-hours, high AHI

Post by The Latinist » Mon Feb 20, 2017 6:14 am

My S9 Autoset has suddenly started showing 24 hours of usage each day and not resetting at noon. I'm also not sure whether it's recording AHI correctly; I think that it's just adding each night's numbers to the pervious day's (yesterday it showed an AHI of 14.2, today it shows 15.1; but I usually average about 3.4).

I should add that a couple of weeks ago my machine wouldn't autostart and I found that it said the SD card was corrupted. I let it erase and reformat, and it seemed to work thereafter.

This morning I reformatted the SD card. The internal memory is still showing 24 hours and AHI 15.1. I tried turning it off and on and even unplugging it. Right now I'm leaving it unplugged for the day to see what happens.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

No... but it sounds like your buddy is about to bite the dust. Hope you have a backup. Also know that dealing with a new prescription, insurance and a typical dme can take time.

Reformatting the card does nothing to the internal memory. The machine stores the internal data and will put whatever it has stored right back on the SD card.

I think I would do a reset to factory defaults which erases everything but run hours and see what the machine records but you would have all that old data in the software and if the data is questionable you don't want it anyway.
Note...this will erase any and all data stored on the machine and you will have to also go in and reset all the settings....pressure, EPR, mode, etc.

I have a 99 year scrip, so that shouldn't be a problem. I have new insurance since my diagnosis and machine purchase, but they've been paying for supplies without complaint. A new machine would also be covered after deductible, which I expect to exceeed anyway with upcoming surgery.

Yes, but I wanted to make sure it was properly formatted and checked out in my OS just in case, since I'd recently had an issue.

Yeah, that's the next / last step. I found a post somewhere by someone with the same problem who said leaving it unplugged for a few hours fixed it. If it doesn't reset when I plug it in tonight, I'll try the complete reset.

As for data, my DME has my usage and basic numbers. My doctor wouldn't even be looking at the detailed flow if I had it, and I've got it on my computer for my own use.

For online companies like cpap.com or secondwind your RX will be fine.

If you want the Insurance company to cover it, most likely not. Most insurance companies want up to date RX's for big purchase items. Many want up to date (Within current calendar year) even for supplies.

As for a new machine, most will want you to go through the process again unless you have a good copy of your last sleep study and you have a sleep doctor to work with. YMMV.

Well, I've done a factory reset and reentered all my settings. Won't really know tomorrow, but should the next day.

So far so good. Both Tuesday and Wednesday it reset at noon. I've had typical ~3 AHIs and accurate usage stats for the last two nights. Hopefully it will continue!

I was going to suggest you try rebooting it by unplugging for 30 seconds or so, them plugging it back in again.

I think that was already tried along with letting it sit unplugged for the day or at least it was in the plan to try that first.

I think that the internal software somehow got a permanent bug set up somewhere and resetting to factory defaults killed it or at least so far it seems to have killed it. Should it happen again and keep coming back...time for a new machine.
