Out through the mouth

Post by reolhlains » Thu Feb 09, 2017 6:14 pm

After a few great weeks of being totally on track and feeling amazing, I decided it'd be a great idea to keep my mouth open last night.
Ridiculous thing was I "half" woke up, aware I was doing it - but obviously went back to it.
Noooooo idea what suddenly caused this - but I'll be out with the masking tape again tonight!!
Hopefully a few nights mummified will do the trick?!

Or a good full face mask that fits can make the problem a non issue. Jim

Yea, for sure. Will keep an eye on it - last night was fine again (I think cause mu AHI was back to 1.1 or something from 0.2 the other night and I feel much better today) and I didn't bother with the tape.

Hopefully it's just a random and rare occurrence!

I do the same thing occasionally and so does Pugsy. As long as its an occasional thing its not a big problem. Check your sleepyhead charts and see how long you were open mouthed, if it was only for a 1/2 hour or so... no big deal. If you are getting 8 hours of good sleep with no big leaks, 20 or 30 minutes here and there won't hurt you, you are still getting close to 7- 8 hours. On sleepyhead charts, leaks that look like m's or double mountain peaks, those are mouth breathing.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Does that come with a guarantee? Maybe the sleep apnea that happens will be like a papercut, just take a little off your life, but it could trigger the BIG ONE, a heart attact or stroke. I think the point of using my machine is to give me the best odd's of waking up in the morning. Jim
