A new mask after 8 months on Mirage™ FX Nasal CPAP Mask
A new mask after 8 months on Mirage™ FX Nasal CPAP Mask
Hi all,
After complaining that I scratch my face/nose/mouth too often with the current (nose-only) mask https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Resmed ... dgear.html , the hospital is going to throw me another one.
I've also tried a full face mask, leak big time.
, so a nasal pillow mask like this http://1800cpap.com/resmed-swift-fx-cpa ... dgear.aspx might be good, not sure if that's compatible with my machine https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... -plus.html
Other than the nasal pillow, is there something for an Asian flat face ?

I would remove the mask to scratch my nosestril, or the area where the mask touches my face, or somewhere on my face.ChicagoGranny wrote:What does this mean?papzombie wrote:I scratch my face/nose/mouth too often

+1 (does your nose itch? Does the cushion abrade the skin somehow?) If your nose itches, where does it itch? The nostrils? Inside? Outside? The skin on the surface? Do you clean the mask cushion well with something like Dawn (NOT the anti-bacterial version)? Do you wash your face well before bed and rinse it equally well?ChicagoGranny wrote:What does this mean?papzombie wrote:I scratch my face/nose/mouth too often
If you are looking for an alternative, check out nasal pillow masks or something like a PR DreamWear

itches are likely nose hairs blowing in the wind, which causes an itch.

I wake up 16 times per night, my sleep architecture is broken, now I see from the video that I scratch my nose/face too often. Is that something not to act on ?LSAT wrote: Why is that unusual....if it itches...scratch it

Good point about washing my face before bed as well.JimW159 wrote:+1 (does your nose itch? Does the cushion abrade the skin somehow?) If your nose itches, where does it itch? The nostrils? Inside? Wash you face shortly before bed with a Non-Comedogenic soap - http://www.menscience.com/Comedogenic-v ... p_177.htmlpapzombie wrote:I scratch my nose/face too often. Is that something not to act on ?
Then, just before you put on the mask, rub your face well with a clean, dry, 100% cotton washcloth. Rub well, but not enough to irritate the skin. The rubbing deadens the nerve endings in the skin. Keep the washcloth nearby in case you awaken and need to rub again.
BTW, I'm 5/9ths asian.papzombie wrote:Asian flat face

Re: A new mask after 8 months on Mirage™ FX Nasal CPAP Mask
I find having an assortment of masks works best for me.
I have PR dreamware and Wisp nasal Masks.
F&P Pilairo Nasal Pillow mask.
PR Amera Gel Full Face mask
I use these on a rotation basics as my needs change.
I like the Pilairo nasal pillow mask but it will at times cause a sore in my nostril.
The Dreamware works well but will cause soreness under the bottom of my nose.
The Wisp works well most of the time but also causes soreness at the bridge of my nose from time to time.
Sometimes my nasal passages clog and I need a full face mask and use the Amera gel.
I have also tried the Mirage liberty hybrid and comfort 2 full face masks but did not like them.

Re: A new mask after 8 months on Mirage™ FX Nasal CPAP Mask
Thanks for all the help here.
I receive the PR Dreamwear today, will see if I need to change pressure (was 8 or 9 on Mirage FX)

Re: A new mask after 8 months on Mirage™ FX Nasal CPAP Mask
I have to quit the PR Dreamweaver, because it leaks too easily.
I'm back to the old Mirage FX Nasal, and am still tired.
Will ask my doctors about a possible oxygen concentrator, since I always complain about the feeling of not having enough oxygen.
