It's been discussed before. It's not accurate. I believe it had something to do with shared IP addresses but don't quote me. Network communication is way above my head. Just look up IP address in Wikipedia where it talks about Uses of dynamic address assignment. Like I said above my head. So if I am wrong some tech can explain.

Put in a little more distilled water than I usually use, just barely up on the plastic measuring stick. Then empty the remaining water in the morning and let the tank air dry through the day. We live in a moist, moldy area by the ocean...don't need that, this works for me. I do wash the tank occasionally, although a lot less than when I first started with cpap *smile*.

You aren't wrong. It's something to do with IP addresses and the forum software recognizing the log in status and inaccurately attributing it to someone else due to past IP address history.

I have even seen some with Pugsy in parentheses and I know it wasn't me.
Used to be that this didn't happen very often (the inaccuracy) but now it's quite common and I suspect it will get to be even more common. We can't assume that the log in IDs now shown in parentheses are correct so it's really a pretty meaningless feature. It may or may not be accurate.

So I have learned a few things during this study. The water tank isn't marked in quarters, it's marked in thirds. And I really can use more water than I had been putting in the tank. If I fill to the top line it goes to the line below it in one night. And then the next night it goes lower still. It never does empty completely or go dry.

I use distilled water. It is 99 cents at the supermarket, sometimes on sale for 88 cents. To me it distilled water is a labor-saving device. No mineral deposits to have to clean from the water tank.

In the winter I fill it to the water line and it's empty by morning ... Midwest winters are very dry and the amount of water used depends on ambient humidity. In the humid summers it's another story, hardly any water is needed so I can go for about 4 nights without running out, so I usually fill it with a quarter of a cup.

I've always used distilled water, the instructions say to do that. And it is certainly easier than cleaning the minerals out, plus there's a danger to using tap water, because you don't know what's in it. Remember what happened in Flint, MI with their water?

Just in case anyone would like to speed up the process of filling their CPAP water tank, I included a picture of my system and a drawing of how it’s assembled. To fill your tank with this system, you just press the actuator button for a few seconds and your tank is filled. The PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) DC motor speed controller can easily alter the speed of the pump to improve accuracy. I was going to completely automate the process… however, due to the small stature of the water tank and numerous other issues, I went with a little button. So much easier!

So… anyone can make this little machine. Everything can be purchased on EBay for a few dollars. Then… using my drawing, attach everything with electrical wire. Everything can be put in a box like I did… or, you can hot glue everything to a small board. You can do whatever you want. I purchased a few feet of 1/4 inch tubing to go from the bottle of water to the pump and then from the pump to the tank. I drilled a 1/4 hole in the tank and in the water bottle top. Easy breezy!!

On my Airsense 11 I find that filling to the Max level line is way too close to overfilling and water is just ready to escape unless I handle the tank perfectly level while inserting it back into the Cpap.
Consequently I fill to about 1/4 inch below the Max Fill line on the Resmed Airsense 11.

On the other hand, on my Dreamstation 1, I fill that tank just until the water just touches the bottom of the air output tube from the Cpap. As it turns out, that happens to be just at the Max Fill line.

The thing you want to avoid is water there it's not supposed to be (for example in the heated plate).

I like to have a full tank of water every, YMMV

Neat filling system, and I suppose that you use the "Max Fill" line on the tank to tell you when to stop (release the button). On my Airsense 11 I find that the max fill line to just too close to overfilling the tank (on a dead level surface).

Yea the max line on the AS11 is too high. I fill to just below it (in between the min/max line really).

@Kguillotte is that a HEPA filter in-line with your hose?
