Lower pressure made my ahi lower.

Post by cpapdude1 » Wed Dec 28, 2016 9:07 pm

I lowered my pressure and it made my AHI lower. Can you explain why?
I will list some facts below to help you understand.

My 90% pressure is 19.5
My AHI for higher pressures like 18, 18.5, 19, 19.5 have been mostly in the ahi range of 3 to 6
For the last few nights I lowered my pressure to 17, and every night my ahi has been between 1.5 and 2
(I have been using sleepyhead software) is how I know the exact details of each night.
Nightly my machine has been spending around a hour at 18 pressure. and almost nothing in the 19 and 20 range.
17 minimum and 20 max. (20 is always my max)
Resmed System One is my model.

And Should I keep my pressure where it is at 17 minimum ??

Thanks.

It sounds like you're using a range of pressures. Could you be more specific as to what you lowered? Minimum? Maximum?

Like we've always said, if you change your pressure and the numbers get better, you know you're going in the right direction.

Keep the pressure where it works the best for you. My AHI is lower at 15 than it was when I was running 20 - 25 (my prescribed pressure).

Can only guess with the info provided. Gonna guess you have trouble exhaling against a high pressure?

How long have you been using this cpap? What is the make & model?

Why not post some SH charts before and after said changes?
