self-amalgamated tape might work, as it's good for sealing and stays flexible.

I guess the point of the thread was to come with less "obvious" solutions...

Yes, this will work good.
It's black Silicone Rubber Self Fusing Tape that stays flexible.
I always have a roll of this around for just these types of repairs.

I suspect there aren't any good ones.

The hose still heats, so I wonder if anyone has tried using a medical grade silicone sealant in a tube to close such a hole in an attempt to get longer use out of the hose. I'd rather not plonk down another $51+ if I can help it any time soon. I'd also rather not use duct tape.

I don't see it available as medical grade, but aquarium silicone sealant has to be harmless enough to allow fish to thrive, and fish are pretty finicky about their environment. I wonder if I could just use some of that.

Any thoughts?
I have used and hate electrical tape. It slips and gets sticky. And fuzz attaches to the glue. Yuk
I instead prefer to use fiberglass tape that you use for sporting goods like cricket bats. Much better. I have heard of people using silicone but never tried it myself. Would be interested in the longevity of it.

Does anybody else marvel at how stingy some folks can be?
Come on, kids; this is your HEALTH! Prorities should display maturity.
What stupid things have you blown too much green on--just last MONTH?
Buy the new hose, and skip the steak house, or smuggle your treats into the theater.
instead of blowing a tank of gas at the concession stand.
Its a pandemic froggie, many aren't working. I'm working 50 + hours a week so we can eat ramen and have crappy health insurance. Thank goodness I listened to people here and stocked up for Murphy before this happened.

Lol what an old post. But that is disgusting, I replace my hose pretty frequently. It grosses me out to use the hose for that long, asking to get sick, ugh.

OK.....I know this is a zombie thread, but here is some info that may not only help repair a hose, but prevent the type of tear in the OP's photo.

I have used Rescue tape, or other self fusing tape to repair holes in non-heated hoses after my cat got to the hose.
I also have had a few hoses tear where the hose meets the connector. To prevent that, I run some of the self fusing tape around the connector a few turns, and then down the hose for a couple of inches. This acts like a strain relief. I've never had a hose tear since I have been doing that.

I now also use a hose cover I purchased to keep the kitty off the hose. I recently purchased a black one that mentioned keeping cats away. For some reason that cover has totally made the cat ignore the hose. This is specifically for the Resmed Heated hose

My older blue Resplabs hose cover never really stopped the cat. Not sure if it's the color, or the smell? Whatever, it seems to work.
