Re: Diet questions for CPAP users

When I first was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in March of 2015 (through my own fault I'd like to add), I decided to take the bull by the horns. Even though the system was against me and I had to fight to get the proper supplies, I tested my sugar upwards of 4-5 times a day, checking which foods r...

Re: Diet questions for CPAP users

Hi Jan, I am glad to hear this is working for you. I showed this to my husband who is a retired doctor as well as a diabetic. He says this "normalizing blood sugar" thing is an interesting concept and was massively tried over 50 years ago. He was involved in some of the research. It was abandoned b...

Re: filtered water versus distilled

distilled is the best. always use distilled the hospital told me always use distilled. Doctors, hospitals, DME, Resmed all say to use distilled. It's so inexpensive and to waste time thinking about it is a waste of energy. We usually buy 12 gallons at a time at around 89 cents a gallon every two mo...

Re: Is it normal to breathe quick and shallow when sleeping?

Sleep breathing is controlled by a difference system then awake breathing.

On most people it tends to be very slow and shallow but different stages have different rates.

Re: Thoughts on humifier usage in travel

Any large boat (ie cruise ship) that causes problems with your humidifier due to movement is one you don't want to be on and are probably praying to get off ASAP.

Somehow I don't see rubbing the dog with a tampon will do much for the stink.

Any feminine hygiene product that DOES deal with it probably should never be used near genitals!

Re: CPAP vs. UPPP for a young person

I bump into a former colleague every couple of years at the grocery store. I'm in my early 50's and I guess he has 10 years on me. He was always a big guy and got bigger, puffier over the years. I second last time I saw him he was ~300 pounds. The last time I saw him he was ~200 and looked like rea...

Re: Skunk advice

Mythbusters did an episode on skunk dog washing. Tomato juice does not work, it only seems to work because your nose deadens to the smell. They recommended the peroxide and dish soap too. I had lots of skunks too when I lived in Montreal. We lived near a canal that goes right through the city - lots...

There is a difference between "I don't like the skin colour" and "I am being told that we are going to be rounded up into camps, racism is ok, you can garb <Word removed due to user policy> anytime, and bears are dangerous to schools and an demented squirrel will control the nuke codes"

Re: filtered water versus distilled

The manuals and the respiratory techs who send you out the door with your brand new gear ALWAYS tell you to use distilled water ONLY. Water from city or county municipal water plants has been treated with various chemicals. Also, tapwater has some bacteria in it. I never use tapwater when I lived i...

Re: Weakness Weight Wellness

You are already seeing the benefits in that you WANT to do something.

It can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a year to perceive more benefits, it all depends on how much damage there is to repair.

Re: filtered water versus distilled

In the U.S., distilled water is sold at Walmart for 88¢ per U.S. gallon. Note that a US gallon is 3.78, liters which is approximately 20% less than the gallons that Canada used before metric conversion. I was not able to find this product on Walmart's Canadian site. When I was in last Canada in 200...

Re: filtered water versus distilled

At $0.88 a gallon I find it cheap insurance that I won't trash the machine. A gallon every 2 weeks isn't bad, even if it was $1.00 a gal.. More like over $2,00 here. Tap water doesn't trash the machine, it just means cleaning your humidifier tank more often to prevent the calcium build up. I stoppe...
