CPAP Philips Water Chamber Changes

Post by JamChris » Mon Oct 24, 2016 11:31 am

Just received my water chamber for the Phillips Respironics machine and discovered a significant problem/issue! They have removed the black water level line and replaced it with a light gray undetectable line - making it very difficult to know when you've reached the correct water level. According to the distributor this change has been made and they do not care about customer issues, problems. Is anyone else having this problem?

if it's undetectable, how do you know it's there?

I suggest using a sharpie.

Fill it up to the line, then dump that water into a measuring cup to see how much it measures. Then use that measuring cup from now on. OR
take a magic marker and draw a line on it you can see.

Yes, the promotional materials all seem to show a clear black or orange line, but my chamber has a difficult to see gray line as you describe.

You really have to be careful not to overfill it, as you would get water where it doesn't belong. The full line is pretty close to the bottom of the air chamber, so you can check exactly where it comes up to on that and use that as a guideline.

Or you could use a scale and weigh it!

But wouldn't it be nice if they had just left the clearly visible mark they had before. I notice this problem every night and curse the unknown bozo that made the change; hope he gets canned, but he's probably the owner's son doing his 3 weeks of real work so he can claim he made his way up from the bottom.

If actual CPAP patients participated, this would never have happened!

I love my Sharpies!

Darkening fill lines on ANYTHING,
Helping honest folks return my lost stuff. (Phone #)
Sharpies are the best thing ever!

Maybe he's kin to the bozo over at ResMed that came up with the stupid little yellow/orange tab thing that is used for water level...or supposed to be used. He gets a cussing every night I add water which is 99% of the nights. It would work great if the water was colored. Almost useless with clear water. It is really hard for me to see where the water line happens to be. I end up using my finger 99.9% of the time to gauge water levels.

I found a water bottle that is approximately the correct size for my System One chamber.
Then I measured carefully and keep a few filled with distilled water and dump the chamber each morning and just pour I a bottle full. Filling to the line always has the risk of the chamber being not level.

Have you heard about the invention of felt balck markers, they are very effective at making lines that can be see on clear objects. Jim
