Hi, New Here!

Post by Panda513 » Wed Aug 24, 2016 12:58 pm

Hello,

I am new to the boards! I have recently been diagnosed with OSA (again). I was diagnosed back in 2008/2009 and used a CPAP for a short amount of time. I found the masks I was using to be uncomfortable and I wasn't able to adjust. I think out of the 3-6 months I used it, I only slept twice through the night with my mask on.

Needless to say, 8 years later I'm exhausted and having unexplained health issues. Including high white blood cells counts.. anyone else with this issue?!

I had an at home sleep study (much better than going to the clinic!) and my results showed my episodes per hour at 101!

Now I am using a full face mask, the ResMed Quattro FX with the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet machine. Two nights in so far, my mask has stayed on (woke up a few times to adjust) but feeling so rested. I have been using the ResMed Air app and it's great to see my scores and how much my sleep is improving.

I strongly recommend you download sleepyhead software to monitor your treatment. It shows much more information than what My Air site shows. I have gone from an untreated AHI of 49 to being under two at least 90% of the time. You can upload sleepyhead images here on the forum and get some very good advice on maximizing your treatment.

Do I need to remove my SD card and load it to my computer to see the data?

Yes, that's the point... the card otherwise would just sit there collecting unread data til it filled up.

Hey, Panda! I am also revisiting this board and just started back up with the ResMed AirSense 10 APAP. This is my first full week....I like the myAir app but it is really generic compared to the SleepyHead software.

I installed the SleepyHead software but only had 2 nights of data to work with last week. I use my APAP every night, averaging 6 hours and per myAir, my AHI has been 6-10. (Sleep Study in 2014 had my AHI recorded at 31)

I am waking up and still feeling very sleepy...but perk up a few hours later.

Good luck!

Sleepyhound, if your AHI is 6 - 10 every night, you are not properly treated. Doctors consider anything under 5 as being properly treated. I have finally gotten mine to where I stay under 2 almost every night. The nights I go over two, there is a lot of SWJ when I first lay down, or just before I get up in the morning. When I take it out, I am well under 2.
