Best night according to Encore, worst night for Aerophagia

Post by Mikesus » Sun Feb 27, 2005 7:59 am

Previously I have been running AHI 4- 5. Got my mask adjusted so it was not CAUSING nasal blockage (mainly by loosening the straps) but... Large leak was bad, but AHI was 2!! Worst part, the aerophagia is HORRIBLE!!

I think I know why the AHI was so low. Mask leak was high, so machine tended to crank up the pressure. (over 50% of the night I was at 14 - 15) Other than the aerophagia, I actually feel really rested . So, somehow I need to find a way to live at the higher pressure. Any ideas?

Mike,

Do you sleep on your back? Try proping the head end of your bed up a little. This may let gravity help with the aerophasia.

Been there done that. Bed is propped up cuz of reflux... Think I need to find a better sealing mask. When the mask isn't leaking the pressure doesn't go as high for as long. Problem is that if I crank the mask down that much, it actually causes some nasal blockage...
