Hi, I've just been told I have severe sleep apnea...doc said my study showed I stop breathing about 123 an hour... 83% O2 sat.. so how bad is that really?? I'm a medic so I can see that it's not good, I also just had a baby , she's fine but how did that effect her during my pregnancy? And I haven't gotten my machine yet-- we I feel like a new person?? How soon should I feel a difference ?He said I should try to lose some weight and that will help also. How much does weight lose help? I'm sure I'm asking alot of repeat questions-- sorry if I am.. How about that sleep study??? AGHHHHHHH worst thing I've ever been through..But atleast it was all on video--NICE.. thanks treeky
Hiya Treeky,
Welcome to cpaptalk.com. You have come to the right place to disuss sleep apnea and equipment.
Your results are almost identical to mine. You have severe sleep apnea. loosing weight will reduce your pressure but may not be a cure. Loosing weight is always good though .
I am not sure what the nocturnal desaturation will do to a child's development. Was your child born early?
Welcome,
Ted

I also have severe sleep apnea. I would wake up in the morning with a sore throat so severe that I could hardly swallow. I had a tough time convincing my Doctor that I snored so loud. I didn't fit the profile. I'm 5'10 and weigh 140 lbs. The c-pap has helped so much ! So, weight loss might help, you'll probably still have apnea.

Hi treeky,
Bet you're going to keep that video to show on holidays. Good luck with your two new babies your daughter and your CPAP machine
It may not make you feel like a new person and then again it may, but it will make it more likely you'll be around to see that new daughter grow up and that's "a good thing"
