Sleephead Data - new mask - help please!

Hi everyone. I like the Amera View (uses slits, not pillows) but need a mask with the same slits for nasal passages but doesn't cover the mouth (my mouth dries and wakes me up). Does anyone know of one like that, nasal?

Secondly, I copied my statistics from last night using the Sleepyhead software (below). I think the data shows okay, but not sure. Anyone know?

it's better to post a screenshot, instructions can be found in the sleepyhead link in my sig.

I agree that graphic form would be better, but the numbers are very low so it probably won't add anything. Besides, it took me many long hours to post it last time (and it was so exhausting) I don't think I could try it again for a while.

Another, just as important, issue is to find a mask that finally works. The Amera would be great if it didn't cover the mouth. There has to be another mask out there that fits the description (using a slit below the nostrils rather than pillows).

(Parenthetically, I'm wondering if the long struggle to find a mask that works is worse than the sleep apnea itself! I'm finding that I'm having spells of grogginess starting three hours after I wake up. This is something new. I've been using the cpap for maybe 8 years or so. Very weary....

Thanks

The Dreamwear mask has slits. And the headgear comes in 2 sizes. (I needed the smaller size)

if you follow the instructions properly, it takes about 3 minutes, once you've got sleepyhead set up, and the charts arranged, posting a screenshot takes all of:

press f12
log into imgur
click upload, select the latest file from the sleepyhead screenshot directory.
copy the linked bbcode link from imgur
paste into a msg here.

and provides more information, in an easier to read format.

Usually a mask that covers both nose and mouth helps dry mouth better than nose only. If you have no problem breathing through your nose and can keep your mouth closed, it can work. I use the P10 pillows and do not mouth breath but still get dry mouth. I use Orajel For Dry Mouth before bedtime and usually it lasts all night but if it doesn't I have the spray Biotene at my bedside. A nasal or pillow mask does make it easier to use the spray or take a sip of water over a FF mask.

Thanks. I looked at it online and it looks good! The one thing I worry about is the one strap in the back. If it had two straps it would probably be more secure on my head because of the shape of my head. I'd hate to order it, wear it a few times, then need another, but the Dreamwear seems like it's worth giving a try.

Thanks!

Interesting that you say that --- because when I keep my mouth closed the moisture stays. Plus I keep it at high humidity. Strange that we have two different reactions.

When I open my mouth it dries out, wakes me up and then I have to use the gel -- and if I'm lucky I can go back to sleep. I think I did learn to keep my mouth shut when I use a nasal mask, but I don't think that's natural for me which is why I tried the FF mask.

I had the medium amera but it slid around too much and leaked, woke me up. Used the small for the last couple of days. Got the numbers posted in the first message: Looks like AHI, etc. run about 1, which is pretty clear it's going okay, but still, I get the fog. Maybe that's just a side effect of sleep apnea -- the cpap doesn't CURE the apnea problems, just alleviate them, imo.

Can you sleep on your side? I'm a side sleeper and sometimes my head faces towards my bed either with my head resting on my arm (or a pillow).

Thanks

Order from https://www.cpap.com and it has 30 day free return. If you don't like it, send it back for refund. They even pay the return shipping. I ended up returning the one I ordered, it just didn't work for me, but I did like it. (it didn't fit)
I like my mask for side sleeping. the Swift FX Nano for her. But it is a nasal mask, and you asked for slits. So I thought of the Dreamwear. The Dreamwear did dislodge when I side slept, but it was too big overall and I think that was why. I find the Swift FX Nano very stable when tossing and turning. Both the top and back straps are adjustable. The entire mask is soft silicone, no hard plastic parts to jab into the face. The For Her version is a smaller size.

Good to know you tried all of them. I've been thinking about the Amera and I like it because there's easier air-flow whereas pillows seemed to force the air or the flow wasn't strong enough -- either way, it didn't feel like "normal" breathing. Maybe the Dreamweaver would have the same EASY airflow?

The Swift FX nano looks like it'd have enough air for easier breathing -- did you find it so? Did it leave marks on your nose/face like so many masks do - ugh.

After 7-8 years, the masks have changed the shape of my nose with indentations, and also puffiness where the pillows puffed out my nose when I slept so it's stretched to the point where there are small lumps. Where one nasal mask rested below the bridge of my nose, there's a red mark. Maybe the only solution would be to switch masks on a regular basis.

I use pad a cheek mask liners on the nose piece. I use pad a cheeck fleece covers on the straps that goes across my cheeks. I use the Resmed strap cover on the headband that touches my hair. Every piece of the mask is covered in padding or a liner.
It does put pressure under my nose, but that is the only place. And it is not enough to leave marks. I can get buy with wearing it pretty lose.
