jds74 has a link to his experiences with the oracle mask in his post earlier in the thread.

I bought the hybrid style. I found myself struggling to inhale, even after making adjustments to the cpap pressure.

OK, so here's my solution. No, I didn't go to Lovers. Made this myself.. tested version 1 (no photo) last night, prevented me from breathing through my mouth successfully. But, was too bulky from some padding I put it it.. This morning I made version 2 (photos). No padding, used Velcro straps from cpap masks that I'm not using. Just tried it out and it works fine. Laugh all ya want, if it works, it's worth it.

On a side note.. Philips, please start making the Optilife again! Eventually, i'm gonna run out of replacement headgear and pillows

This is the kind of intense intellectual work I like to see.
BRAVO Mustang 2000 or whatever your handle is. If it works, it's good.
Also, do you mine if I recommend this to my friend with the gimp suit?

He has open mouth problems and the ball gag messes with a correct tongue seal for the cpap.
He doesn't have facial or body hair because he is waxed as part of "Madam's Rulez" whatever that is.
I think this would be much better because he an use a safeword now - those are pretty useless with the ball gag,
everything just comes out "mmmskkfdsipwa!!, N-N-N- whwhwhwhwh!"

Sure, go right ahead.. although he should be warned that "mmmskkfdsipwa!!, N-N-N- whwhwhwhwh!" becomes "...." in this thing. Can't use your mouth at all and have it be effective.
My greatest fear is that we loose power, and I freaking die because I just eliminated use of my mouth..

Hmmm.. I wonder if I could put a one-way trap door in this thing.. let air IN but not OUT, just incase power does go out and the cpap stops working.. an "anti-asphyxiation" flap

Sorry, I am so annoyed by mis-use of "mine" for "mind" - when I saw MY misstake I read it aloud in my head with a bit of a weird accent that is totally not racist and probably not even associated with a race or even NASCAR.

Also, thank you for the permission and the heads up he will need to learn sign language. I'm really learning more about this bondage thing than I want to. There's just too much this and that and the other - lots of busy work if you ask me, also too many things to worry and remember.

Just a friendly suggestion, but if you want to get a Santa gig, you should NOT wear this getup at the interview?

(On the other hand, if you want a Facebook meme that goes viral, you are all set to create a kids-terrified-of-santa slideshow...)

Seems to appear to be a nice solution, BUT, and there is always a but, If you have issues with the nasal pillows (for example you start to get congested at night) or you lose power, you will try and breath through your mouth and until you wake up, suffocate.

One way valve will allow you to breath in, but not breath out, again suffocating.

I am a mouth breather as well. I spent a full week training my tongue to stay at the roof of my mouth to prevent the chipmunk cheeks and mouth leaks. I also use a chin strap to help keep the mouth closed at night.

Works about 80% of the time. Right now, due to allergies, I am having some issues, but not too bad.

As others have suggested, try training your tongue to stay at the roof of your mouth, which effectively seals off the passage way. If there is a mechanical issue or physiological issue preventing you from doing that I suggest you see your doctor before using the black strap you designed.

Potential for death seems a bit high price to pay to be Santa Clause. And I love Christmas and Santa, my family always has a gift under the tree from Santa, so I know what you are saying but come on, let's get serious. This is your life you are playing with to keep your beard?

I shaved my mustache back significantly to the point that I just shaved it off, when I started CPAP. Kept tickling my nose.
