Resmed Airfit F10 mask very "light"

Post by Oltremare » Fri Feb 05, 2016 3:38 pm

I bought on the Internet a Resmed Airfit F10 mask at a price perhaps too low!
Now I'm wondering if it is original or whether it is a rip off!
The packaging is intact, sealed and seems likely.
My other resmed masks are made in Singapore but the back the envelope is written:
"Made in Australia
Soft sleeves made in China. "
Maybe it's all ok but what do you think?
Thank you very much.

Yes, but I didn't know they had a production in China.
Perhaps my fears are useless and I just had good luck for a good buy ...

typically, chinese rip-off clones fake the country of origin too, like some fake nippers that were ordered from china wherein the box was plastered "MADE IN USA" all over the front.

I'm not saying that there aren't counterfeit cpap masks out there, (because, how would I know for sure?) but, I will say that I've never heard of such a thing.

I also think like you palerider.
I was doubt why I bought on ebay at a very low almost unbelievable price !!!
OK, thanks for your opinion.
Here it's time to go to bed, it's almost midnight, and I'm going to try the new mask.
Tomorrow will tell how I slept.
Good night to all.

My first night with AIRFIT F10 was not good. Many revivals, caused by air leakage from the mask near the eyes.
Droplets of condensation on the breather holes and generated annoying gurgling.
But I do not give up, the mask I like and try again.

Even with a heated hose we can sometimes get condensation at the mask level from the added moisture in our own exhaled breath if the conditions are just right such as a cool room and warm breath. The Auto setting works fine for some people but with the Airsense 10 and Climateline hose you can place it on manual and set the tube temperature and humidity level individually. So it may take some adjusting of the tube temperature.
Also be sure your tube is higher the machine is lower, that way if the moisture is in the tube it will drain back to the humidifier.
My husband used the Padacheek liner to help with the mask movement and leaks with his F10. Keep trying you will find your right combination.

OkyDoky you're right!
Yesterday I had the climate of "manual" to combat dry mouth.
Tonight I'll try "automatic climate" so I'll see how it goes.
I also want to try it on Padacheek or the like but in my country there are no shops to CPAP. I can buy, only online and not easy.
thanks for good advices.

You can try cutting your own out of old tee shirt material. I did see where http://padacheek.com/ now has increased shipping charges Canada shipping is a flat $10.00 USD and any other country is now $15.00 USD

If you want to make your own mask liner, here is a link to a pattern that is quite similar to a commercial brand. I have used it in the past to make my own mask liners out of an old tee shirt. The pattern is a small size. If you need a larger liner, you can enlarge it as necessary. http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/diy-cotton-mask-liner.pdf

Thanks Okie BiPAP, I would try to make it.
I need some advice for how to use it. It serves to lower the air leaks? How I stick to the mask, just leaning against on it?
I hope you will forgive my ignorance, I am newbie ...

How I stick to the mask, just leaning against on it? Yes and when you have the mask tightened pull slightly on the edge to make smooth.

Both of my F10's, one supplied to me by my DME source (SleepMed) & the other from ebay had notations of the little sleeve being made in China and the mask being made in Australia. If your mask was actually a Chinese counterfeit knock-off, I imagine that you'd probably be suffering from some hideous chemical reaction by now. My most recent mask, a Mirage Quattro, also says made in Australia. Singapore is another place that some are made, I have a Swift FX from Singapore. Good luck with your new mask.

when I used liners, they were just plain cloth, I would either lay it on the mask, then dip my face into the mask, or, more likely, I'd lay on my back in bed, put the liner on my face, and then lower the mask to my face, and then snap on the headgear while holding the mask in place. it took a little practice, but was easy after I got the hang of it.
