Dream Wear leaks

Post by Stormynights » Thu Feb 04, 2016 11:55 am

I decided that I needed to try this mask because I have always had leak issues and I thought this may just be the one for comfort and less leaks. I put it on last night and was amazed at the comfort but today I found red frownie on my machine. It did seem like the exhaust was a little excess at both the top and bottom. I don't understand why there are two vents in the first place. That bottom vent hole even looks huge to me. The top vent looks to be more like the normal size. I never saw where anyone mentioned the leaks before but maybe I just missed it. I am debating on covering part of that hole. I know not to cover the whole thing but I do like the mask except for that.

Seems if I put it on right, it naturally goes the right way. Seems to actually fit going the wrong way-- in the sense of feeling okay but the nasal part is wrong. I can't imagine you're doing this but since I have done it 3-4 times....

With me anything is possible. I amaze myself sometimes. I better check that out. Thank you for the suggestion.

Just ordered one. Hope I don't have leak issues. Looks like a decent mask.

I hate my dream wear. It was my first mask ever, I returned it within the first week as it was creating a sore under my nose. IT got so painful I would just take my mask off. Aside from that it would always "Feel" like it wasn't on even when it was. Sometimes it would leak but no often. I generally hated it.

Yesterday I returned it, got some nasal pillow and got the best score I've had on "my air". Didn't have one issue, so I will not be going back.

Well I was wearing it upside down. It was still very comfortable. I think it will be a lot better when I wear it right side up. We shall find out tonight. I did like the little stretchy strap at the bottom because of my long hair but I will try it the right way anyway. I think I am going to love this. My nose gets sore from having something on it 24/7. The o2 cannulas that my DME supplies are horrible. I hope to be able to buy a case of the good ones in the near future so I won't have to mess with the crappy ones that irritate my nose so much anymore.

I'm glad I brought it up. Oddly it is comfortable to me upside down, backwards, probably inside out (though I haven't tried that!). I did this last night-- really was confused til I took out and thought, no that's wrong. Funniest thing. Perhaps Dreamwear should have little arrows, because I bet it's not that uncommon.

Your signature says you are still using the Dream Wear. Curious what is your new wonderful pillow?

I literally just it back 3 days ago. I haven't changed it yet, I am currently using the Resmed swift FX.

Do you have your machine set to the correct mask for leak detection? As odd as it is, I've worked with a couple of patients with the Dreamwear - one using a Resmed Airsense 10 and the Other a PR 560p Auto. The Respironics did not really detect any leaks and the Resmed did, but the mask setting was a to a full face mask. I switched this setting and the leak value changed. I'm not saying you are not having leaks, but something to look into when troubleshooting.

My mask worked great last night when it was turned the right way. It wasn't really upside down just turned the wrong way. I think it would be impossible to wear it really upside down. If there was a way I might have done that.

So your arrows weren't lined up when it was turned the wrong way, but now they are?

I took the headgear off when I cleaned it before wearing and put it back on with the little strap on the bottom.
