"Yet, not a one of the advisers would go to this trouble if it were their own case."

Pretty definitive statement to make, since you don't know me or, the depths of my resolve when I'm being mistreated by a corporation. The "blah blah blah" is originating with you, in my honest opinion.

I find a good-cop/bad-cop routine is highly effective.

I tell them, "Oh, it's not me you have to worry about. It's my excitable friend over here. Say hello to my leetle friend..."

BTW, by "polite and sweet," I do NOT mean "quiet and easy to get rid of."

Even if you go so far as to file complaints with regulators, insurance companies, complain to supervisors, file lawsuits, or start an internet campaign against them, you can come off as a polite and sweet person. It often makes your efforts more effective.

Being sweet and polite often confuses the assholes.

Keep smiling. It really bothers people.

Wait till they get a load of me.

I sent a Certified Mail, with return receipt - letter to the doctors office requesting my complete medical record, not a summary. I reviewed the Delaware Laws and they do have to release them to be, they are allowed to charge per copy and it lists how much per page. I am going to also contact my states boards, do the internet rating site thing, etc. Going to see how they handle this request for records before going any futher. I do have an appt with a well respected Sleep Dr in my area who will be returning from maternity leave in 2 weeks, appt is on the 22nd. Going to also go to her office this week and sign a release so they can get my records from him too. I do have a Pulmonary function test and xray that this doctor requested scheduled for the 7th, wonder if I should keep that and let them know to send results to my primary or since it was sent from this dr its not valid?

Plenty of big talk anonymously on the internet. Post links to the newspaper articles showing you took down corporations.

Letters to a corporation get the best results when they start with a positive statement,
followed by detailed (non-profane) summary of what happened, and a desire for them to "make things right"
Humor can go a long way to help create an air of cooperation and sympathy.
{{{This only works when you reach a rational human being with authority to do something.}}}
Threats of legal action tend to be ignored--if you are serious, just do it!

That is so true. Unfortunately, it has also become epidemic on social media where one is not anonymous. It seems like every week I see news stories of someone being fired for spouting off on social media. Duh.

This is sensible. Much of what is posted in this thread is not.

I never stated that I took them "down". I just don't take any crap from them. (whenever I can avoid it) It's amazing how effective it can be to go over or around the lower management people and communicate with the ones higher up the food chain. Are you really a judge, or....... just playing one on the internet ? Post yer appointment, until then......I'll remain in contempt !

Unfortunately, the medical profession in the US is totally dedicated to MAXIMIZE PROFITS to CORRUPT CARTELS like the AMA, BIG CORRUPT PHARMA, and all manner of politically connected organizations and rent seekers.

This is just the world of corporate malfeasance we live in today.

I agree with Chicago granny. There are plenty of dedicated medical professionals out there. I am lucky to have found a great team, including my Lincare local office. It's just a shame that the rotten apples have to be sorted out, fired, and you move on. But I am grateful for all the help I have gotten from the Dr's and their staff. But, I am one of the lucky one's with good health insurance and the ability to navigate the medical maze.
So Metsfan, just good luck finding a good Dr.

My guess is that your old sleep doctor now is going to send a copy of your file to your new doctor and simply send you a note indicating where they sent it. That's not compliant with the HIPPA requirement but they will claim it is. IF this happens, my suggestion is that you hold their feet to the fire to get your own copy of your records directly from them, and also make them do it within the required 30 day time limit of original request. If they don't comply, make a formal complaint to the regulator.
I'm workin' on it.

Good job! And I agree with Hose Head. Don't let them play games with you--insist that they send the requested copies to YOU.

You would be entitled to the results of your pft, also, but you'd have to go through this doctor's office to get them since he ordered the test. So I'd wait to get a new order for the test from your new doctor unless there's an urgent need.
