Thanks. I appreciate the clarification.

I have other questions, but will eventually make a more thorough writeup of my CPAP experience thus far and state them there.

Go figure - I can walk while chewing gum but apparently I can't quite grasp breathing while sleeping.

Here's last night's data. A couple of night's ago I tightened up my auto range from 12-20 down to 12-16 after some replies to my post here as well as another forum.

What mask are you using?
Is it a nasal mask?
Most of your "clear airway" events seem to be clustered during some leakage, so that makes me wonder if they're occurring while you have your mouth open and leaking some air out of your mouth.

If you are using a nasal mask, you could try taping your mouth shut to eliminate that possibility.
If you're using a full face mask, it could still be confusing the machine and event detection.

Do you have any data from when your pressure was a fixed 11 cm.?

How was the sleep quality from around 5 AM on?
Do you think you were awake during some of that time?

Not that I'm aware of, but then again I sleep VERY VERY deep so I could've been slightly awake and tossing and turning but I would have no idea if I was or not.

It looks like you could have been waking around 5:30 and again around 7:30. You mentioned sleeping through 3 alarms. What time are they set for? You went to bed around midnight, what time do you need to be up? How do you feel when you don't set an alarm - like on the weekend? What time do you go to bed and get up then?

Medications? Are you taking anything that may produce the grogginess you are experiencing? Have you had a good physical with a full complement of blood tests lately? Have you complained to your doctor about your morning grogginess/fatigue?

Your sleep doesn't look too bad to me until around 5 am when it begins to look like it is being disturbed. Any environmental factors that could be a factor? Anybody else in the house getting up early, traffic, lights, etc?

How about sleep hygiene? (see the link) Dark cold room, regular bed and rise times, caffeine use and those kinds of things? Do you try not to use caffeine after noon? Alcohol before bedtime?

I only see one obstructive apnea in the above chart. As Den is kind of suggesting, you may want to try straight cpap around 11 cm to eliminate the pressure changes of auto as a source of disturbance.

No need to be a dick to this guy.

OP, good luck to you, and welcome to the forum. There are lots of kind, knowledgeable people here who can help you take control of your therapy.
He wasn't being "a dick". If you ever went to school, probably most of your teachers posed answers like that to you. Its intended to get you to think for yourself instead of always asking someone. RandMan has thin skin.

The DME doesn't do anything with it anyway. There are hundreds of people, maybe thousands, who have RandMan's experience. Perhaps not for that many years, but how many of us get ANY support from anyone until we take up the reins ourselves?

I'm intolerant and impatient, being only six weeks since starting and coming here looking for answers. We Americans are far too tolerant of being mistreated by those supposedly "in authority." Ladies and Gentlemen, PLEASE STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES and stop being pushovers for big business.
