Anyone used the new DreamStation Auto by Phillips?

Pardon if this has already been posted but I looked back about 4 pages and didn't see it if it was. I am about ready to pull the trigger on purchasing a New AirSense 10 AutoSet but would like to get some input from any who may have used the DreamStation. There are features I prefer that both do not provide or either one's are nicer than the other's. For example, I like the DreamStation's Humidifier and access to it better than the AirSense's but that's not a deal breaker item for me.

Any experiences or opinions are welcomed.

If you want to use software now to see results...don't get the DreamStation...Sleepyhead won't work with it and it's unknown when it will.
Also..I can't find any Encore version that will work with it either.
Now I know Respironics will eventually get around to getting Encore compatible but we don't know when that will be.
You would be stuck with limited data available on the machine and/or with DreamMapper online software.

Otherwise I can't comment...haven't see or used either the AirSense or DreamStation.

I've been using the DreamStation just over a month now and the biggest drawback that I can tell is the lack of good software to read the data, as Pugsy said. I am new to CPAP and Sleep Apnea treatment and have only used the DreamStation, so can't compare it to other machines, or really know enough about them in general.

Here is a write-up I did in another thread about it after two weeks of use. I am now at about 33 days.

Been using the Auto DreamStation almost two weeks now. I am new to CPAP and don't know enough about the CPAP world to make any real insights other than what it is like as a newbie. This is the machine the DME gave me. I told the doctor I wanted a good machine that had advanced data monitoring and auto functionality.

I like the machine, but don't know anything else. There are things I don't like about it. Most notably is the fact that the only data app that works at this point is PR's DreamMapper and it leaves a lot to be desired. It gives very little useful info. I have also been having a problem with the machines LCD display telling one AHI# and the app telling me a different one. The app's is usually lower than the machine's by almost half. I got a weird explanation when I called tech support and need to look into it more. (problem has since been resolved, my LCD AHI had counted Hyponeas and the app didn't until about a week ago, I think it was a bug in the app, now fixed) I also have never had less than a 100% mask fit number and no leakage time at all show up since starting. I know that can't be right unless I am the best mask wearer ever. When and if SleepyHead starts being able to read the data, I hope I will get better use of my machine.

As far as using the machine, I like that the LCD is on the front of the machine because it makes it easy to read as I am laying in bed. Whenever I wake up during the night I like that I can just press the dial and see what pressure I am using at the time. Making adjustments when sitting up in bed is not that bad either, but I guess a top mounted LCD would be better for that, but I don't mind.

The humidifier is also not too bad to use. Things I wish were better on it is when pressing the lid open button, it should be spring loaded. Now you pull the button forward with one hand and pull back lightly on the top hose connector to open it. I would like it to pop up a little automatically when pulling the release. The inner tank comes out to fill it, while the tank has an open top, it has a lip around it to prevent spillage. I have been taking it out to fill it because I have a gallon bottle of distilled water and it is easier and I imagine less messy to remove the inner tank. I may fill some smaller bottles to be able to pour it right into the tank, while in machine.

I have been using the Dreamstation for almost 2 months. It is extremely quiet and easy to use. The humidifier chamber comes out of the machine easily enough and the water would last for an 8 hour sleep session. As mentioned earlier, software is problematic. The DreamMapper app works very well, but is very limited in scope.
Overall, I like it very much, but if you want/need detailed info this is not the machine for you.

I've had the dreamstation for a few months now. I think it works great. It blows air at the doctors prescribed settings and I can add humidity to it and even heat the hose. Just like most other brands of cpap!
Software - I am not too concerned really anymore. My sleep study was good, my doctor is good, my ahi is below 5, and I'm sleeping well. My life is busy enough as it is without sitting down and analyzing my data while trying to pretend to be smarter than my doctor. I guess maybe some folks got stuck with a bad sleep doc.

Jetsfan - You'll probably like the machine more as time goes by and Phillips will update it from experiences folks like yourself have and report.
Jason - You sound like myself when it comes to getting reams of software info. I like to get the major stuff but not so much of the minors. When I first got my current machine I couldn't wait to look at the previous night's info. Then, my interest kinda' fades. Like you, How I feel is the best indicator of my CPAP success. Not everyone would agree but that's okay.
Pugsy - good to hear from you - been a while and looks as if you may have become one of cpaptalk's stalwarts and I'm sure it's well deserved as you have continuously helped people for as long as I have been around - keep up the good work!
