Re: Sore nose
I used to get sores from these nasal pillows: http://i.imgur.com/lYWeeLC.png but ever since I started using these, on the Nuance Pro, I haven't had a problem: http://i.imgur.com/BzdyAxq.png However, I guess you are getting sores with that last one, right? I don't know what to tell you. Can you loose...

[ASV] What are all of these "Timed Breath"s in SleepyHead?
What is a Timed Breath?" Here is a screen grab from SleepyHead for what seems to be a great night for me--AHI of 0.13--but I had 80 timed breaths, those black ticks mark along the top. Are these something I should work on minimizing? If so, how? http://i.imgur.com/caROomY.png Here I've zoomed into a...

Re: Dreamwear not working with chin strap
you might be able to ditch the chin strap later if the mouth/brain will learn to stay closed. I wore the Dreamwear mask all night last night for the first time and without a chin strap . I had xerostomia all night but not the super -bad dry mouth like I have had at higher pressures, so I was hopefu...

Re: Dreamwear not working with chin strap
Just how bad would the mouth opening issues be if you didn't use a chin strap? Would they be relatively minor or would there be huge issues? Huge issues. I actually started out last night without the chin strap but woke up right after nodding off with the sound of air rushing out of my mouth. Befor...

Re: Dreamwear not working with chin strap
Have you tried a FF mask, which would make a chin strap unnecessary? Oh, god, don't remind me! That was the first type of mask I tried and hated it. Nasal masks, too. It's not that they are uncomfortable, but that they leak really bad on me. I guess relying on a longer margin to seal (relative to a...

I was told I'd really love it when I got a heated hose, but I frankly can't tell any difference. I live in Texas if that matters.

Re: Aerophagia problems
I'm glad you're finding relief. I have had tried tilting my head back, but it tends to return to what it finds to be a more neutral position forward. Do you do anything special to maintain that position?Greg Riddle wrote:Tilting my head back seems to greatly help my aerophagia problems.

Dreamwear not working with chin strap
After hearing so many good things about the Dreamwear, I decided to try it out. After an initial hiccup with the wrong-size nasal pillow, I wore the mask all night for the first time last night. I really like it, but I'm having trouble wearing a chin strap with it, and I was hoping someone had a sug...

Re: Highly suspect I have OSA--any options for help for me?
to get a mask requires a Dr prescription You know I've been wondering about this. I recently bought a PR Wisp mask for $49.99 through Amazon just to check it out (didn't like it), no prescription ask for or required. They have lots of masks, and as far as I can tell you don't need a prescription fo...

Re: My Mouth is Really DRY!!!!!
Try a chinstrap. This. I was having the same problem. I didn't know a mouth could get that dry. Neither my sleep doctor nor RT suggested a chin strap; I found out about it on this site. I now have a new wrinkle in my chin (thanks Obama ) from it scrunching up my face, but it was the break-through I...

Re: [ASV] What setting do I change to minimize aerophagia?
PS..Pressure support..is what is added to the minimum EPAP pressure to make an IPAP pressure. Using less PS will mean less IPAP being used at least part of the time and it might be enough to help with the aerophagia and not let a truck load of apnea events happen. Thanks for all the good you do on ...

[ASV] What setting do I change to minimize aerophagia?
I saw my sleep doctor today, and she said to minimize aerophagia, I should reduce PS min from the current 5.5 down to, IIRC, 2. Does this make sense to you? She said that aerophagia occurs during inhalation (makes sense) and that this will prevent my IPAP from going as high as it does now. Here are ...

Re: Shirtless sleeves
Oh, so the piece of filter juts out a bit, the exhaust hits it and is diffused? At first, I thought you meant that you covered the exhaust outlet with the filter material.grayghost4 wrote:I use a cut piece of a resmed inlet filter and attache it LOOSELY over the vent area of the mask

Shirtless sleeves
I thought I'd pass on this tip. You've heard of a sleeveless shirt, right? Well, I invented shirtless sleeves. Like a lot of people here, the exhaust from my mask inevitably blows on my arms, directly and by bouncing off bedding. So just sleep with a long-sleeve shirt on, right? Unfortunately, I hav...

Re: Underwent Modified UPPP & Tongue Coblation
I have returned to my old self: struggle to get up, sleeping 10+ hours to compensate, etc. I was just listened to Car Talk this morning. They said when you take your car to a carburetor specialist, most likely a problem will be found with your carburetor. All kidding aside, this could apply to medi...
