Re: Power adapter failed. Anyone in SC have an extra?
Call your DME. If it is within warranty, they should be able to just give you a new adapter. If not, your insurance should still be able to cover a replacement since it is technically a repair. Thank you. I am just worried they'll have to ship it to me and it will take a week. I called and they sai...

Power adapter failed. Anyone in SC have an extra?
So it may be a long shot, but I'm desperate. Tonight my power adapter just died. Was working fine and the machine is less than two years old. But the green light won't turn on anymore. Other things work fine in the outlet so it has to be the adapter. Worst case scenario is two day shipping from Amaz...

Using Provent for traveling?
I just spent the last hour or so reading about Provent, the nasal device that claims to be a substitute for CPAP. I don't think my search was exhaustive, but it seems like Provent can be somewhat effective, but isn't as good as CPAP. It can cut the AHI in half in most people, but of course CPAP can ...

Re: black mold in water chamber
For cleaning out mold, film or gunk, here's the salt trick: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=108168&p=1031955&hilit=salt+trick#p1031955 I will try this, but the mold is only in this one corner of my chamber where the seal is. I will try again with a water pick, but I'm not sure if I can ...

Re: black mold in water chamber
So I should just not use my humidifier until I get a new chamber? I won't sleep well without it, but I guess that's better than mold. Sigh.

Re: black mold in water chamber
I definitely will let it dry from now on. Constant moisture is required for mold growth and I don't know why I thought it'd be better to leave my chamber moist all the time. From what I've read, black mold isn't usually toxic though. And even if it is, removing your exposure to it can alleviate the ...

Re: Sex Life and Sleep Apnea
I haven't noticed an increase or decrease in my sex drive after being on CPAP. Being less tired probably helps though. I'm also younger so maybe I wouldn't notice the difference as much as older people. As for actually having sex with CPAP, I haven't found it to be a deterrent. It is annoying when y...

black mold in water chamber
I've posted about this before, but now I've gotten a little black mold in the crevasse of my water chamber that I cannot get out. Not even a water pick can reach it! I've dumped a bunch of vinegar in my chamber so I hopefully killed it, but the black residue is still there and I'll have to buy a new...

Re: Accidentally put mineral water in my CPAP
Thank you all for the replies! That is a relief I am home and cleaned it out with warm water/vinegar. It appears to have gotten all the stuff out (and hopefully some of the germs from traveling).

Accidentally put mineral water in my CPAP
so I arrived late at my hotel and totally forgot to get water for my CPAP. In my tired haze I used the bottle of water in my room completely unaware that they added minerals to it. The next morning I could see the mineral residue at the bottom of my tank and now I'm worried that this damaged my mac...

Re: black specks in water chamber
Thank you all for the replies! The Water Pic idea worked great and I got rid of all the stuff I could see. However, I did discover more biofilm as I wiped the edge of the chamber with a q-tip so I imagine there will always be a small amount in there.. The chamber I have (Airsense 10, aircurve) does ...

black specks in water chamber
Hi all, I clean my water/humidifier chamber about once a week with mild soap and warm/hot water. I usually dump out the extra distilled water every other day. However, I noticed last night that there were a few tiny black specks (mold?!) on the corner of the chamber. I tried cleaning it out, but mos...

Re: is this a good equipment schedule?
Thank you all for the replies!
I also thought it was too often (especially with the hose) so I think I'm just going to let them finish the shipment so I have a backup of everything then call them when I need new supplies.
Thank you!

is this a good equipment schedule?
Hi all, My insurance (without telling me) signed me up for automatic equipment for my CPAP. I think my insurance covers 80% of my equipment, but for a broke grad student like, that's still a lot of money. I just want to make sure they are not sending me things I do not need/things I don't need so so...

Re: question for cleaning hose with sensor
Thank you for the replies! I know I have Resmed, but I still tried to avoid getting the sensor wet anyway. My manual said 10 parts water for vinegar so I just submerged the humidifier and hose in that solution for 20 minutes or so and now it is drying out. I'm kind of on the side who thinks less cle...
