I think most providers would be more interested in comfort, meaning repeat business.
Many find nasal pillows more comfortable, (see forum stats) initial price outweighed by repeat sales.
I find most full face masks impossible to use, due to limitations in size paradigms.
Many others may have the same experience. If companies want to sell more full face masks,
perhaps they need to consider making MORE SIZES.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Reading the stories on this forum for any length of time will confirm it.
There IS more profit in nasal masks. Too many people are given nasal masks for various reasons. Too many never figure out why they have nasal congestion or how to resolve it. And, usually they're told the wrong way to solve the problem......which makes the problem worse.

Because the hearsay on an internet forum is enough to figure out what motivates medical suppliers, and classify them all as inhuman, money hungry, and incompetent?

I am not sure how capitalizing the word "IS" makes your sentence any more true. To test out your statement, I did some price comparisons to see if this was true. I compared the airfit P10, and airfit F10. Assuming that CPAP.com prices are very close to cost. I get Airfit P10 cost $100.00. F10 cost $150.00 (minus CPAP.com margin which I assume to be pretty low). My DME price : F10 = CDN$320.00 = $240 USD. P10 = CDN $230 =$172.50 USD . Profit: $90.00 F10 $72.50 P10. Pretty sure that my DME would be making a much bigger margin off of the full face mask.

But then again, if Wulfman said it, it can' t be wrong.
I believe they make up for the percentage in volume.
And, if it's nasal pillows, there's alot more volume in the sales of replacement pillows than replacement mask seals.

Too many people believe they're claustrophobic, but by the time you use chinstraps, taping the mouth, etc., you've got alot more "stuff" on you than a mask covering the nose and mouth.

And, the reputations of the DMEs has long been reported on this forum. If they don't like their reputations, they should try harder to change them.
Personally, I've never had to deal with them for my own supplies, but my wife had to deal with one (Lincare) some years back with a "CoaguChek" device and the lady who tried to show her how to use it seemed "clueless", and she even stated she had to use one, too. Anyway, I wasn't impressed and it didn't take me long to figure it out on my own.
