What do they mean?

Post by Revger » Sat Nov 28, 2015 4:33 am

My CPAP machine is one that automatically sends data to my doctor and a website that I can access: U-Sleep by Umbian. There's a calendar with information on it but I can't find anywhere that tells me what the information actually means. Can anyone help me? There are three listings each day:

Therapy Hours (which I can figure out)
Leak 95th %
AHI

Does anyone know what those last two are about?

Thanks!

Leak 95th % means that your leak was at *or below* this number for 95% of the night. This way, if you have a couple short spikes, they won't be included in this number. The ahi is the average number of events per hour.

That said, you can get much more detailed data with sleepyhead for free. It works with any of the big name machines. Respironices also has Encore, and Resmed has ResScan. Also free. Much better than the software they advertise to cpap users. You can see graphs showing your whole night. You can see the pressure go up and down as needed during the night if you are using auto. This can help to see if you need to adjust the pressures. you can also what the types of events are, how long they are, and if they are clustered. And the leak details are better.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Dang. I didn't even notice that. I know those aren't always accurate, but it could be true.

Hi, thanks for the response and advice.

And I'm not enchanter whoever that is. I thought I was registered but I hadn't done that yet. Now I'm legit...registered and everything, I think.

And AHI is the number of apnea episodes the machine detected. Ideal is 0, but anything up to 5 is acceptable, and if you just started, it may take you a while to get down to that number.

If you run across other terminology that is confusing you might look here at this glossary.
