Re: I'm finally starting to sleep, but...
Agree with Janknitz. Take a look at your data and see if your therapy is optimized. I've had some aha moments during treatment. Usually right after an adjustment to the settings that lowered my AHI. Didn't start feeling consistently better until I had gotten that number down to 2.0 or lower. You cou...

Re: OT-AN OPEN LETTER TO PUGSY
Pugsy got me where I needed to be. Thank you, Pugsy! Others have definitely stepped up. Robysue stands out, among many others. Still the best place to help people find their therapy sweet spot.

Re: new user = walking dead
I'm not one of the seasoned experts, only been at this about 6 months, but 5.0cm seems like a low starting pressure. Sure looks like you are spending much of the night above that. Heck, a lot of people feel like they can't breathe on a pressure that low. But other, more knowledgeable folks will chim...

Re: Some sleepyhead data, pls review
6.0cm fixed is what they started me at, with similar, ugly results. Now at 18-20.0cm range, and AHI is almost always below 2.0. So there is hope.

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe your sleep debt is finally paid off?

Re: Newbie can't seem to sleep more than 4-5 hours
Give yourself time to adjust. It is a big change, but beneficial if you can hang in there. Yes, a cold and runny nose certainly don't help matters. But you may find you get even better numbers when that clears up. It just takes a little time. After a couple of weeks on therapy it was so routine to m...

Re: New numbers advice
I was stuck in a range with middling AHI's with an APAP setting of min 14.5 max 20. I didn't get consistently below 2.0 until I tightened the range to min 18.0 max 20.0. Of course everyone is different. I am just chiming in to say you still have room to work with.

Re: Is this apnea
Agree with zoocrew, sounds like you have major anxiety issues with the treatment. It takes most folks a while to get used to having something strapped on their face when they sleep. It takes many an extended trial and error period before they find a mask that is comfortable and works for them. Also,...

Re: Recently diagnosed and anxious
Hi my name is April and I am an overweight 42 year old woman who has sleep apnea in the family. I have been told for years by family that I should be tested and that I snore and stop breathing. I have experienced moderate to extreme anxiety all my life. I went through a bout of severe clinical depr...

Re: Sleepyhead shows horrific night, NEED to make a change
Just a thought, but my FFM came with a larger diameter hose than my nasal mask. There is a setting on my machine for hose diameter. So possibly could the hose diameter be larger with the FFM, thus possibly diluting the pressure if the machine is set at the smaller diameter hose setting but working w...

Re: Just diagnosed
I was just diagnosed with sleep apnea. I knew I had it but I wasn't prepared for how bad. By ahi was 130 and my oxygen levels went down to 68%. With an average episode lasting 18 secs that leaves me not breathing for 39mins every hour! I am legitimately afraid to fall asleep now. I was wondering wh...

Re: New - Introduction
Let your body sleep (with the machine) when it needs to sleep. It takes a while to recover from years of abuse due to this condition. So happy you are experiencing such good results so early!!!

Re: New User Exhausted Next Day
I'll run you quickly through my experience, which I would say is probably pretty typical for most new users. Diagnosed in September with an AHI of 37 and O2 desat levels in the 60's. Had been walking around for a decade or more feeling zombie fatigue every day. Never felt rested, no matter how much ...

On the bright side, since starting treatment, I have been able to come off Prilosec, PepcidAC, etc., after suffering for many years with GERD, acid indigestion.

Re: Newbie, night 2, question list. (omg I want to sleep!)
I take ZQuil occasionally. A single Benadryl or generic equivalent works just as well. I also use a nasal mask, and have to keep it strapped on pretty tight since I am on high pressure. I try to sleep on my side with my face at the edge of the pillow to keep from dislodging the mask or having the ex...
