Sleep masks, REM and the Amara View
I've been trying a large variety of cpap masks and the one that I always default with is the Amara view. There are two things that makes me want to keep searching for the perfect mask. First the Amara view's exhaust blows air into my eyes. I have a good seal, it's the exhaust that blows air out and up... I typically wear contoured sleep masks but the contour design allows the air into my eyes.
The second con is the marks it leaves on my face. I am using pad a cheek liners but I still have cushion marks. Tried loosening the mask and still left with marks.
My main question here is I have regular sleep masks that can block the exhaust from blowing into my eyes. The problem is the mask is not contoured so I'm afraid it would inhibit or disturb REM sleep. Is there any evidence that flat sleep masks actually disturb REM sleep? Does anyone hear sleep with old fashion eye masks that presses against the lids?
Also is there any suggestion for the mask marks other than using liners? The pad a cheek liners is very comfortable. I just wish I can fix the dent marks.

Google Quartz sleep masks (sorry not sure of exact add) and they have ones for Cpaps.

I looked them up. Is this the one?https://www.dryeyeshop.com/new-eyeseals ... -p639.aspx
Can't see the picture well on my phone. But it looks like goggles. Are they comfortable?

Yup, that's it... and some do look goggle-ish, but so what, they do the job.

Re: Sleep masks, REM and the Amara View
Hi julie, I have no problem with the appearance. I wonder if you can tell me how comfortable it is. I have a sleep mask that does the job of protecting my eyes from the exhaust but the mask presses against my eyelids. I would say comfort wise, a sleep mask sounds more comfortable over a goggle. Never liked the feel of swimmers goggles. But I am wondering if there is any ground on the idea that eyemasks with no sockets can interfere with REM sleep. If there is no basis, then I probably would prefer wearing a regular old sleep mask

Sorry, no personal experience with them, just heard from others who've used them... I'm sure they have a return policy to check into though.

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I'll just have to try it. Has anyone worn sleep masks that restrict eyelid movement? Does it interfere with REM sleep?

I would strenuously AVOID any mask that restricts eye movement.lindalam89 wrote:Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I'll just have to try it. Has anyone worn sleep masks that restrict eyelid movement? Does it interfere with REM sleep?
Pressure on the eye itself can cause irreparable damage.

Hi Chunky Frog. I guess what I mean is the mask presses lightly on the eyelids. It's one of those standard eye masks you might get on the airplane. Would those almos cause damage? I guess I have to but the quartz mask.
