Upper Airway Restrictions and hyersomnia

Post by nosleepdopey » Tue Oct 13, 2015 12:54 pm

I have had three productive nights with my Capp-- thanks to the advice I now have a good seal and less contesting. Monday I woke if not refreshed -- not dead tired. However, this morning I was once again simply exhausted on waking. I do not have obstructive apnea-- but the treatment for jars is same. My apnea episodes fell to .5/per hour last night, but I am wondering if anyone else is using the clap for jars and how is your treatment going. I take250mg Nuvigil and my doctor has not prescribed anything for my restless leg syndrome yet. Will I ever feel better-- I hope , I hope after61 years of exhaustion.

I'm really confused about your post. Is "jars" a medical condition? I tried looking it up and could find very little about it. Do you have a link?
You also claim you don't have obstructive apnea but then state your episodes fell to .5/per hour. Do you have Central Apnea?

And, finally........THREE nights is a drop in the bucket of the amount of therapy that may be needed to reverse some of your exhaustion issues. In reality, it doesn't happen that fast. It can take MONTHS after the person gets their therapy tweaked. Are you using software (like Sleepyhead)?

must be UARS, not jars. If so, I have it and successfully treat it with VPAP

Told you I was stupid with fatigue and I cannot turn of the auto correct-- yes I meant UARS obviously; my diagnoses about 20 years ago was idiopathic hyersomnia-- I begin to decline precipitously when I turned 60 last year. My doctor has said I have UARS , restless leg syndrome and am borderline narcoleptic and dream enactment during which I often bruise my arms and legs.3
He has suggested melatonin, which I have added at night. I take250mg of Nuvigil, but it is not always sufficient to keep me awake-- I sometimes have to supplement with 10mg Adderal, but I have the entire spectrum of problems aasocaiated with a sleep disorder- hypertension, diabetes2, and four"small stokes". Also although not currently a problem, I have a history of clinical depression. Currently, I am so tired I am unable to remember my college students' names and often cannot retrieve a common word when I am lecturing. Yes, three nights is nothing and I still getting good software reports; I am using the Airsense 10and the software reports incidents of apnea. So I guess you must have some apnea with UARS , as well as abnormal brain activity. My last test results said I had 146 of brain wakefulness over 8hours-- 157 abnormal leg movements. during REM I am not paralyzed-- any tips of staying on the job as a college professor as I use the CPAP and wait for results. I am at the point I really cannot perform normal daily activities-- often I am too exhausted to prepare meals and I do have a supportive spousal unit but he is also suffering from --debilitating

idiopathic hives-- so let me know if I can expect slow improvement. I am at the very end of my reserves.

Which specific model of machine are you using and what are all of your settings? Are you using "Sleepyhead" software or something else?

In my opinion as your average joe on the Internet, treating the combination of sleep issues you describe will require a staff of experienced, talented sleep specialists from a variety of disciplines, preferably a group associated with a well-known and well-respected hospital. If your present sleep doc/staff is/are not answering your questions satisfactorily or having much success, you may need to look into that.

You can start by doing these steps:
- register as a permanent user;
- specify your equipment in the user profile;
- show us your SleepyHead charts;

Each step may be a bit of a challenge, given your condition, but it can be done
