Re: Amara View and Cushions

Perhaps I need to do something like that. I didn't get a spare cushion because I was going through the rounds of finding a mask that works for me. I am pretty sure this is the one for me unless something magic comes out soon.

Amara View and Cushions

Overall, I love my Amara View but lately I've been waking up in the middle of the night to a sweaty mask on the "corners of my mouth" area and leaks in that specific area. The nose seal and the chin area is fine. I haven't touched the strap adjustments since I started using it in mid Oct. What's the...

That made me chuckle. Definitely something Mom has said to me before.

How to explain CPAP to a caring mother?

I'm a little bit worried/stressed. I will be sharing a hotel with my mom. She lives out of state and I haven't seen her since I've started cpap. She knows I've had sleep issues, and I've tried the best as I could to explain that my sleep issues are more than just a racing mind. I have to explain CPA...

Re: Questions for Nasal Pillow Users

finished my first week (and still hate it, don't sleep, etc.)Questions:1. Since the nasal pillow masks are essentially like snorkeling with your nose, how do you keep your mouth closed all night? When mine drops open, I wake up startled with the air blowing out of my mouth. Makes me feel like I'm g...

Re: Amara View Full Face - Help, I want to Like this mask!!

I have been using this mask for a little over a week now. I love this mask. It's comfortable, NO bruising/marks at all for me, no waking from the tornado sound (like my P10), and no leaks. Sorry this post is long; I hope that what I found might help you or others. It took me about 3 days to get to t...

Re: No help for lack of rem sleep and PLMD?

PLMD stinks. I'm sorry you're going through that. I'm no doc, but mine has told me that PLMD is caused by neuro but can be triggered by a lot of things. We investigated low iron levels (nope, mine are high for a woman). My antihistamines guaranteed an especially active night... I went the length of ...

OT: Happy moment (and realistic expectations)

I won't lie, I was a little bit bummed out. I was thinking about CPAP, mouth breathing, bruising with FFMs... feeling overwhelmed, a little bit deflated... I've been reflecting on my cpap journey so far. While it's not been perfect, in fact some of it is a little bit frustrating, I just realized som...

Re: Why read or watch TV with mask on?

I was told to do that in order to acclimatize to CPAP. (Un?)fortunately, I never made it that far. I noticed even in the DME office that the air pressure was super relaxing, like a deep refreshing yawn. Since day 1, when the mask goes on I am out before I can even think of watching TV or turning on ...

Re: Sinus problems

I'm a long term allergy sufferer. And like you, I noticed starting CPAP that I had more discharge. But for me, it's a good thing because it's flowing out of my sinus cavities instead of sitting there to turn into a sinus headache or infection. I think I get more "flow" because I'm using heated humid...

Re: Will faces "toughen up" over time? (FFM)

I think the biggest problem with my trials is when they fit me with a mask, I'm sitting in a chair. I think gravity and sleeping position really affects the mask seal, despite them pushing the mask around to maintain a good seal. It seems as though when they fit in the office, the mask is leaky when...

Re: Wean off CPAP?

I was born tired. After a few scary events driving while drowsy, I decided to take control. I started by working out, losing weight, eating better... I even started immunotherapy for allergies, thinking that was a contributor. Nothing helped, but I did lose 40 lbs, getting to a healthy BMI for my si...

Will faces "toughen up" over time? (FFM)

It is looking like I have to pick the "lesser of evils" and just choose a mask. I've always been an easy bruiser. I had that checked out many years ago, docs have said everything checks out and that the bruising is one of my quirks. So my question is, does the face actually toughen up over time with...

Re: hmm, custom masks in the future?

That's AWESOME! Funny, I was thinking about 3D printing and custom masks for the future right as I was drifting off to sleep last night--in connection to my quest to find a mask that works with me. I bet tons of cpap users would love the option of having something custom fitted to their unique facia...

Re: Mask woes, just when I thought I mastered it.

Here is my story, see if anything sounds familiar: I used to think I was a mouth breather so I got a FFM and noticed that I did not breathe through my mouth when using CPAP. After hearing great things about the P10 I bought one out of pocket and bingo I was now a mouth breather. Turns out for me it...
