Increased AHI in last three weeks CPAP usage

Post by Rajeev » Fri Oct 09, 2015 8:07 pm

I have started using CPAP for last three weeks. As per sleep study my AHI was 19. I observed the data from the day I started using CPAP. Initial week AHI level was 0.6 which gradually started increasing and now it's 1.2. Is this better in the terms that I am sleeping better hence AHI have also increased. Can anyone explain this please. I still don't feel fresh during day time. Can anyone explain this please.

Nobody sleeps the same from night to night. Expect your AHI to fluctuate a bit. Good to know that you are sleeping better. 3 weeks is not a lot of time. Some people feel great immediately ,while others need weeks or months.

I understand that three weeks is not a great time to evaluate the things but is this confirmed that I will get the relief one day. What is the maximum time to wait before you see a doctor.

After reading your other thread, if you're using the range of pressures you stated ( 4 - 20 cm. ), that could very well account for much of what you're experiencing. As Pugsy said, the pressure range may be way too wide and taking the machine too long to reach the needed pressures.......and maybe the pressure changes are disturbing your sleep which may leave you not feeling well rested.

In other words, figure out a single/fixed pressure and try that for a week or so and see if it helps.
