CSA and A-Fib

Post by traveling Utz » Thu Oct 08, 2015 6:00 pm

I am having a constant struggle with my CSA and now my A-Fib is really acting up. I am struggling with my Central Sleep Apnea, insomnia and the D*MN ASV/CPAP machine. Gets so frustrating. The neurologist is very helpful and understanding, she has given me a different sleep med to try for middle of the night awakenings. I know that if I could get the Apnea at least under control with the machine, it would help my A-Fib, but my body/mind hates the machine. I had my 7th episode last night since being diagnosed in July. My cardiologist had me on 100 mg of Flecainide twice a day. I felt horrible after taking it. I am so short of breath and my heart rate raises over 100 just getting dressed in the AM. I went and saw the Cardiologist today, he listened and took it back down to 50 mg Flec twice a day and referred me to a EP in Baltimore. I have a consultation on October 21st.

I have to take Lunesta to even fall asleep with the machine and I will sleep for about 3-5 hrs with it. I get up and use the bathroom, and will put the mask back on, and be unable to fall asleep unless I take it off. I was using the Nano, but it would fit fine in the evening, but end up leaking in the middle of the night. I am going back to the wisp and trying that again.

I refuse to give up, but am just getting so frustrated.

I have occasional Afib and keep 150mg Flecanide on hand...I have only had to take it twice over the past 5 years. Based upon the number of episodes you have had I would think an EP visit would be in order with a possible ablation. Good luck.

The Cardiologist agrees and that is who I am having a consultation with on the 21st. Thanks

Please keep us posted on your office visit... I for one am interested. Side note: I liked the Wisp back when I was using nasal masks. Give it a shot, it can't hurt because you really need to wear your gear ALL night long.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
