Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
The first night with the REFURB DS1 was fine. I couldn't tell any difference from my AirSense 10 once I got the DS1 dialed in with settings that I like. My REFURB DS1 looks and smells brand new. Like Philips "might" have actually torn it apart and rebuilt it??? Personally I am OK with a refurb... bu...

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
How do you know if the DS1 replacements are refurb or new? Or are all DS1 remediation machines refurbs? I received a DS1 today to replace a System One machine. I am using it currently and like it other than the new machine smell. I like that my System One heated tubes plug into the DS1. Hopefully I ...

Re: Replace apap with a CPAP?
My wife has a Resvent Ibreeze 20 set in apap mode. She has to return it to the company leasing it to her because she honestly is bad about keeping the mask on so she isn't using it as much as she should be. So we are going to purchase a replacement machine for her but I'm finding out that mainly cp...

Re: Changing from CPAP to Autoset setting conversation?
I have an old bipap machine that used to be my late wife's, a Phillips Bi-Flex that I just set both settings to 9.5 since I never was prescribed a bipap machine or bipap settings. I bought a replacement Resmed S9 and I want to make use of the Autoset settings. What should I try as a good starting p...

Re: Mouth sticking at night
Been on cpap for more than 20 yrs. Use nasal pillows since they came out. Last 6 months or so several times at night my mouth sticks together. It wakes me and is scary! I use a humidifier. I don’t mouth breathe. No mask leaks. I sleep on my left side only. Can’t sleep in right side due to CGM senso...

Re: Replace a Dead ResMed CPAP machine
I haven't been to the sleep doctor in over 15 years. About 5 years ago I asked my family physician for a CPAP prescription and he didn't blink before writing the prescription for me. I scanned the prescription, saved it with my internet documents and emailed a copy to cpap.com. I have been getting a...

Re: Philips recall: Take the $50 or a replacement CPAP?
Philips is sending me a new Auto CPAP WITHOUT having to send them a prescription! It looks like Philips designed their Dreamstation 2 specifically for the recall to cut every production cost as low as possible. As long as it works I will be happy to have it for traveling and camping. I have a Resmed...

Re: Does Anyone Hate their CPAP?
I love my CPAP but despised it when I first started using it 20 years ago! It takes time for your body to adjust to a different way if breathing while sleeping. I recall using the CPAP during the day while awake for short periods of time help with the acclimation. Everyone is different though. Same ...

Re: Philips Attempting to Avoid Replacement of Recalled Older System One CPAPs
Considering you have to return the machine to Philips to get the meager $25 or $50 payment I will keep my machines for backups should they not replace them as originally promised. Are you sure of this? I haven't seen one way or the other. The Email from Philips that started this thread shows "OPTIO...

Re: Philips Attempting to Avoid Replacement of Recalled Older System One CPAPs
I just received my recall email today, a week after I selected to get replacements for my two series 60 System One's from the link I got here. I ordered an AirSense 10 with a free mask for $599 this Monday. I should be here in 2 more days. The AirSense will be my main CPAP and the Philips replacemen...

Re: Looking to test out CPAP
My overall opinion is that you need to turn off the ramp, increase the minimum pressure to 8 and the maximum pressure to 15. Then try it for a couple days. This sounds like a very good approach. 5 is quite a low pressure and it is where the machine will start at. 8 is a much more practical starting...

Re: New User and Can't Get to Sleep
I used the machine for the first time last night and could only stick with it for about 90 minutes. It kept waking me up. As soon as I felt myself drifting off to sleep, a big rush of air would come in and wake me up. The machine was also very loud, but I could have tuned that out and fallen asleep...

Re: Phillips / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
I also just received the self-serving E from Phillips offering me a whopping $50 for my System One ASV. Or, after more than a year waiting, I NOW must provide a prescription to even stay in line?? I wish them all to try to stay alive in small-town America where the three "sleep specialists" are 1) ...
