Resmed Airsense 10
Resmed Airsense 10
I need to buy a second CPAP and want to buy the Resmed Airsense 10. As these are expensive, is there anything that can be done to improve the price of a new one other than search on google shopping for the cheapest? Medicare won't get me one for 3 more years and I need a second one because I move from bedroom to bedroom at night.

The host of this message board...cpap.com... will match any price you see advertised.WANTOKPORO wrote:I need to buy a second CPAP and want to buy the Resmed Airsense 10. Re: Resmed Airsense 10
ResMed sets the MSRP for any machines or other ResMed products that are bought from them and cpap.com isn't allowed to discount or price match ResMed products.
It's part of the contract they have to agree to in order to purchase at the wholesale level and if they break the contract then they could lose the ability to buy any ResMed products.
Some secondary market sources online do sometimes show a price less than the MSRP but they either are breaking their contract or they aren't getting directly from ResMed.
Read the fine print about "price matching" and while it doesn't specifically say ResMed..that's who they are talking about.

We will match our competition's documented price in most cases. Please email us a link to the website you found the lower price on, the name of the product, and its price. You may also paste this information in the Comments section as you place your order. "MAP" Policies, or Minimum Advertised Price policies, are common throughout internet shopping. MAP policies are set separately by manufacturers, so they will vary.

Craigslist is also a possibility, but it may be hard to find a machine this new.

Re: Resmed Airsense 10
Might I suggest a gently used machine? SecondWindCPAP.com has used AirSense machines going for $599.00, I believe. I just purchased mine from there. It had been used a whopping total of 60 running hours, and was nearly $300 cheaper than a new one!

This place has new but not in a box with a warranty. http://secondwindcpap.com/. They are honest.

Re: Resmed Airsense 10
Thanks for that lead but the prices are all $789 and up. I found one at the CPAP shop for $758, which I guess is the best I can do, unless I hear anything else from this wonderful list!

Are you looking on this inventory page? I do see where the new ones are going for $789, but look a few inches above and you'll see the gently used AirSense 10 AutoSets for $599. Says they have 10 units in stock. Or are you saying you'd rather not buy a used machine?

Re: Resmed Airsense 10
Thanks. I had missed that. Nope, I don't have anything against a used machine.

Re: Resmed Airsense 10
Question,
If you keep switching machines during the night how are you going to look at the data.
I move my machine but not every night; I have learned to leave an extension plugged in one of the rooms so I do not need to go looking for one. I would not recommend moving the machine and the power supply during the night because of the cables, transformer tube and mask. I would think that would be dangerous when half a sleep and tubes or cables hanging down.
Have you considered getting a small basket with holes for circulation, and putting your machine in it with the transformer and cables. Taping part of the end of the plug sticking out of the basket (a handle would be nice) so it can easily be plugged in at your new location. Tubing can go on top in the basket. I have no idea what set up you have. I need to remove my mask if I stop the machine, Some newer masks have quick disconnects so you can go to the bathroom without removing the mask.
This probably would not work if you use a humidifier unless you take it out and put it back in when you get to the next room.
I used to love the DIY tips for different issues. I can actually see this set up in my mind. I may just do it so the machine looks tidy with the tube and mask in a basket. Dollar Store Here I come. (I like Plastic)

Put it on wheels. Incorporate a standing hose hangar on it to deal with the hose. If the move during the night is on the same floor (no stairs), then this should work.
Still, I favour the OP's solution of a second cpap, one in each bedroom. That also solves the problem of having an available backup.
I'm workin' on it.
