How do I use my ResMed SD card?

Post by SofaBear » Thu Sep 03, 2015 1:58 pm

I plugged my ResMed SD card into my computer and got nowhere. Is there a special sauce I need to be using?

What software are you trying to use it with?

Ha ha ha, I just plugged it in an it wouldn't open.
Do I need to download a software, or how exactly does this work? Now be nice.

find a link in this forum, in the sticky section or search for "sleephead software", it's free-mac or windows.
you should slide the little tab on the side to locked or away from the gold pins to protect windows from writing files to the card as the Resmed machines don't like this file on the card and the Resmed CPAP machines will reformat the card losing all your data. if the file is already on the card, it can be removed, but this is more complicated than the average user can do on their own.

Thank you. That sounds complicated. What about the ResMed SD card reader? And how does that work?

any card reader will work the same. card readers are just dumb hardware that allows you to plug the SD card into your computer. The SD card only contains raw data and no programs to use that data. The data can only be used by a program that was written to use the data. Sleepyhead is such a program. As programs go, it's pretty easy to use and I am pretty sure you will find it useful. Read the tutorial in the sticky section and then see what you think.

Since you said that you inserted the SD card in your computer and nothing happened...we will assume that no card reader is necessary. Your computer has a SD card slot. Once you have Sleepyhead installed, you can insert your SD card and access the detail from your machine.

You can also view your data using Rescan software, which is also free. I use it to provide my doctors compliance and summary reports, in case they get asked for them for insurance purposes. Sleepyhead provides more flexible means of viewing the data, but Rescan looks more official, for people like drs. Someone will surely be able to send you a link. One thing to remember when putting your SD card in the computer --be sure to slide it to locked, and be sure to unlock it before you put it back in the Resmed machine.

Personally...I never lock my card and I have never had a problem. YMMV
