AirCurve10 humidifier tank air leaks

Post by dunkonu23 » Fri Aug 21, 2015 6:50 pm

I have had an AirCurve™ 10 VAuto BiLevel Machine with HumidAir™ Heated Humidifier for about two months. I have noticed an issue with the gasket of the humidifier tank--it is prone to having air leaks. The leaks go away when I squeeze the tank, but I think they're coming back at night while I am asleep. I keep getting the red frown face when I look at the previous nights sleep. This is disturbing as when the machine detects leaks, it raises the pressure to compensate, thus causing more leaking.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what was the fix?

Thanks!

Scott

Why not take it back to your local DME for replacement?

That would be too easy!

Seriously, it has been looked at by them. They could find nothing wrong. The manufacturer basically told me to take a hike after I told them. In fact, they cut me out of the MyAir thing. Not that being cut out of MyAir was a big deal--the whole cheer leader thing complete with gold stars and ratings is basically fluff.

Mine did basically the same thing. I found two different things.
1. one time there was a drop of water that was trapped between the gasket and the bottom half of the tank module, this allowed air to escape.
2. take off the main gasket and clean both the groove in the top part and the surface on the bottom half, along with the gasket itself. This gasket is like the face seal on a mask, any oil on it can make it not seal and leak.

These tanks can see a lot of pressure and the silicon gasket counts on friction to keep from getting pushed out, if the mating surface of gasket and tank gets contaminated by oil, water, soap or about anything it will lose this friction and leak.

Good luck
Sleeping MUCH better now

Also, check the position of the gasket inside the humidifier, behind the tank.
Sometimes that part can get wonky.

Is "wonky" a medical term?

I have the AirCurve10 VAuto Bipap also since January of this year. I've not had any problems with the water chamber leaking. Mostly leaks with the mask and mouth leaks. I use a chin strap and that seems to have taken care of leaks. On my air I get mostly 100%. Less is for going to the bathroom or when one of the masks come loose and I have to put it back together. I do pour the remaining water out the next day and leave the chamber open until night time for a refill. No problems with it leaking thus far. If you are sure it is the chamber, why not contact the DME and get a new chamber? That's a lot less expensive.
