I've also questioned the idea of staying on it.

I feel that I was given it to solve a specific problem that I'm assuming got thrown into the mix to solve a problem that would be temporary once the sleep apnea got under control. Then once that happened, you could wean yourself off of it.

Since it was prescribed because I was waking up in the middle of the night multiple times, and that is now gone, nothing to lose except for getting off of a potentially nasty drug.
How's that Granny says it?

Almost anything that modifies your metabolism, body chemistry, or nervous system has some negative side effects and risks along with the benefits. We tend to forget this too quickly. Doctors are often nearly as bad as laymen.

Klonopin withdrawl

Post by mariejeanne » Thu Sep 03, 2015 2:58 am

My hubby went off Klonopin, which he had been taking for anxiety. It took a long time for his mind and body to return to normal, but he's doing great now. He did work closely with his doc throughout the process, which I hope you are too. Best of luck.

Okay, here's the latest.

I've been dropping 0.25 mg/month. Started at 2 mg.

5.5 minimum and 10.0 maximum had been keeping at an AHI of about 0.70 to 2.5.

On October 1, I dropped to 1.5 mg. Keep in mind I have 1 mg. tablets.

I know it's only a week but, my AHI keeps climbing. Every day it's gotten higher. (I'm assuming that's because my body is starting to adjust to the lower dosage.) My maximum pressure (95%) had been averaging 7.5. As you can see, this has gone up to 9.8. That makes it seem that I'm needing more than the maximum to get through all of this.

For some reason, I also am noticing that with the change, a significant increase in hypopnea events. I find it odd that in this one that nearly all of them happened after 2:00 AM. For me, hypopnea events seem to be the biggest factor. Under 10 and I sleep well. Over 10 not so well, and at 22 not well at all.

By the way. I've tried time and time again to become a member of benzobuddies and I just can't seem to get the site to send me an email for confirmation.

For any of you who have gone through this, are there any generalizations about the negatives that happened while you're taking yourself off Klonopin?
