Hot Stuff in the Bedroom!

Post by Goofproof » Tue Sep 01, 2015 11:16 pm

Life in my bedroom just got hotter. My window a/c quit, I like it cold, it would only go down to 64 degrees, but At that temp the room only was 67.

I even ran it in the winter, with the heat shut off to the bedroom. The last couple of months my electric usage has been going up, it's failure is probably adding to the cost.

I still have the central air working, but I can't set the whole house as low as I need, the wife would have parts freezing off and breaking, anyway I'm a believer in redundancy. Murphy's not allowed in my house, neither is his lawyer.

So it's fan time, and less covers. Been checking out 10,000 btu units, really want a 12,000 btu but the house wiring is overloaded as is. Other concerns, they are all made in China and have a 1 year warrenty, and the reviews aren't very good. Been looking at a 12,000 Frigidaire @$371, but I may take a chance until spring. In the meantime, heats on! Jim

I hear ya! Nights have been cool here in Southern Indiana and we have been enjoying it (got the house down to 57 degrees!). Hubs and I have gone to Texas to meet a new grandson. Temps here are frying pan worthy. I'm sleeping in a computer room that has 40 different lights and plenty of heat! I brought my own room fan to supplement the ceiling fan and I'm still roasting. Tomorrow, we're going to Galveston, which is not only much hotter, but my son keeps the house at a smouldering 78 degrees. Ugh! I'm looking forward to my Indiana nights again!
