Re: CPAP machine with COVID
when I had Covid the other week (not really bad symptoms) I was actually happy I had the CPAP. Whenever I have flu/cold symptoms using the CPAP has been a relief as it typically clears my nasal passages and allows me some rest albeit the first 10-30mins can remain conjested until the machine hits it...

Re: Dreamstation recall replacement arrived
I got just the DS1 blower, power cord, new carry bag, one filter, and a non-heated hose. I was told to use my old stuff for the rest. Now I have to ship ( at Philips cost) old DS1 back. I can keep any other item other than the body. I have already hacked the plastic fan casing that held the foam and...

Re: Remstar 560 v. Dreamstation Auto
Just as a point of reference but you can pick up a Dreamstration auto for $400-460 on Amazon now which is the same as the PRS1. Surprised me and probably shows sales are not going well for Phillips

Why many are still tired after starting CPCAP
Starting CPAP is also associated with weight gain i.e. people can actually put on weight at the beginning. (Not huge amounts though) In the studies (think it was more than one) they hypothesized that the body not being as stressed didn't burn as many calories or something like that than when untreat...

French Nurse Expert in Apnea's Treatment, don't understand..
For the patients in the second way ( They selfpaid their traitment) Do you think they would be ready to pay monthly fee to be personaly followed-up ? answering for someone in Australia I would say (in contrast to some of the other answers here) that there is definitely a segment in would utilise su...

Re: Amazon selling masks without prescriptions?!
I have purchased complete masks from both eBay and Amazon without prescription. Prescriptions for masks are silly in my opinion since a zip lunch bag is more dangerous.

Re: Battery min. Amp hours help
Thanks CapnLoki. That's great as I plan to run it without a humidifier. Yes, also a direct cable.

Re: Battery min. Amp hours help
Also, the battery in question (from here in Oz) is a LiFEPo4 battery and while rated 15amphrs this is based on a 20hr rating. Not sure whether it all translates since the 20hr is based on lead acid.

Re: Battery min. Amp hours help
Hi amenite, I had been working on the rated max draw of 3amps/Hr (SuperSleeper had mentioned this number I think). I had seen capnloki post saying his PRS560 runs him around 4AMP/hrs a night, which would mean I am good to go. I am just being cautious though. The battery I am looking at is light and ...

Battery min. Amp hours help
I need to go camping in two weeks. I have my PRS1 560 that I will use without the humidifier. I am looking to get a battery that lasts max 2 nights and also small, so looking at lithium ion Deep cycle. I have found one that's 15amp hours. Given my pressure median is around 9 I would like to know fro...

Re: Why does the Respironics show more events?
palerider, currently I am preferring my respironics 560 over my A10. Probably will go back to the A10 but I am finding the 560's softer, less aggressive algorithm easier to cope with so I don't get the leaks or aerophagia I was getting with the A10. Yes, my AHI is now 1-3 rather than 0.2-1.5 but I c...

Re: CPAP and Carry On Travel
I'm resurrecting this to add some info. I'm finding that some airlines are insisting I give them information about the machine at least 48 hours ahead of time to be allowed to carry it. They want to make sure the specific machine is approved to use on a flight. I don't think they understand it's no...

Re: Sleep apnea and high altitude?
Before my sleep apnea was treated, I visited several high-altitude (8,00 plus) locations and flew (slept on) a lot of long-distance (10-20 hour) flights. Headaches killed me. When I learned about my apnea, I understood why - my overnight O2 levels must have been frightfully low! As someone else her...

Re: Antioxidant supplements: eat your fruits and vegetables, but
Molasses is generally only preferable (health wise) if organic as since its relatively untreated, it will continue to contain potentially significant pesticide residue from the farming.
