Both. DME also said they can make adjustments via the modem as well.

New CPAP owner myself, and I have the DreamStation as well. My DME told me that they had only had this machine available for about two weeks when I got it, so I consider myself Patient 1.

Here is a draft manual for this new Dreamstation machine

Looks a lot like another unit that I am familiar with

I just got my first CPAP today. I also got the Philips Dreamstation. I was just looking it up online and came across this forum. To answer a few questions that I have read in this thread that the told me today about the machine... First the Dreamstation is not suppose to hit the market until sometime in October. From what they told me today, it is a self adjusting machine that will adjust the pressure depending on need. It has a humidifier, that will also adjust depending on need. Both can be adjusted manually as well. Comes with heated hose for the cooler months so the air doesn't feel as cold. It has a SD card and stores information such as pressures, usage time, sleep patterns, and I am sure lots of other information, so that the doctors can check and see how you are doing. It also has WIFI so that if the doctor sees something that needs to be adjusted, he can connect remotely and adjust it instead of you having to take the machine in.

Seems like a cool machine. This is the first time I have had one or tried a CPAP so I am very excited to see the results.

i did the same thing! I got my dreamstation on August 3rd. Hit Google, and......nothing. I joined another apnea board forum and felt like a celebrity. I heard the press release was last week. I've had it for 40 days now and I almost feel like an expert, just cause I've answered so many questions on it. Here's a quick rundown on mine: it's the dreamstation auto cpap. Front led display. Control knob. The screen isn't touchscreen. It has Bluetooth and modem capabilities. Humidifier on back. Lid is hinged up and the tank loads from the top. Therapy levels go from 4 to 20 (I believe.) you can ramp in 0.5 increments and you set your starting point yourself. It's has 2 filters on it. One for big particles and one for hepa. It also has an SD card. Any changes the doc wants to make can be made remote. It syncs to my droid phone and iPad. Every morning I get a readout of how I did. Mask leaks, AHI, and therapy hours. It has a blue light on top that starts the blower. It goes off after 30 seconds of not touching anything. The screen goes off too. It's 98% noiseless. Heated tube. It has a tank preheat function. You can heat the water up to 30 mins before going to sleep. There's a system check on it, so you can test to make sure the humidifier and blower are working at 100% efficiency. The cord plugs into the bottom of the left side of the machine in the middle.

That almost covers all the questions I've answered for others. Hope that helps some of you looking for info on it. If you have any other questions, email me: scm(dot)rtr (at) gmail(dot)com

(I'm not supposed to know this part......to access the physician settings, push control knob and ramp for 5 seconds. It takes you to a hidden menu where you can change the locked settings. Sssshhhhhh........)

Note that I'm not 100% sure about this yet.

As best as I can tell, DreamStation has models named "CPAP, Pro, Auto," and some bilelevels. Apparently DreamStation "CPAP" with no further words in the name is very low data capability. Model numbers seem to follow PRS1, which would mean that the "500" that Steeltiger has is a good auto.

Probably no SleepyHead support yet, but I haven't got a chance to try it.

Requires a newer version of Encore, if you want to use Encore.

steeltiger, I would appreciate a copy of your SD card data, if you're willing. You could put it on dropbox.com and post the URL here, or send it to me via private message if you're more comfortable with that.

Will do. However, you can post a hyperlink here. Just leave off the http part and put a space after www, if necessary. For instance, "www .somewebsite.com/blahblah" Anyone who wants to get to the link can retype it.

I have the Dream Station through a pilot program. It has not been officially released, therefore no info is available. It does have a memory card and modem to directly send efficacy data to your doctor. This CPAP is so nice with all the new features compared to older models. I recently went back on CPAP hoping for better quality sleep and this little machine is named appropriately. I'm still getting used to it, but so far so good.

I just got this machine yesterday. It has the 'flex' setting that can only changed in strength. I hate the 'flex' thing because the noise from the machine becomes cyclical with my breath and its distracting. I can also feel the resistance drop which is also distracting. My ability to fall asleep when its a reasonable bed time is tenuous so I really want it off. The technician didn't know how to turn it off because the machine is so new. I though I'll just find a manual online and do it myself. But sounds like I'm out of luck probably for 1-2 months. I also detest being monitored so closely with this new fangled technology (not really new but new to these devices) which I have to live with for now and a separate issue.

Are you talking about the new Respironics DreamStation?
I am betting that the ability to get into the clinical setup area is going to be just like with the previous model machine and just require holding down a couple of buttons for about 5 seconds.
Give it a try...
Explained here
http://www.apneaboard.com/pr-system-one ... structions

So far the only manual I have been able to find on the DreamStation machines is the user manual draft version...and it doesn't tell how to get to the ultra secrete setup area but I am betting the procedure is about the same as on the PR S1 machines.
Once you get into the setup menu just turn the Flex exhale relief off.

From what I understand you hold the ramp button and front knob down together for 5 seconds to access the clinical menu.

And looks like you can now request the clinical setup manual at this link.

Go figure - I can walk while chewing gum but apparently I can't quite grasp breathing while sleeping.

Thanks for pointing out that the apneaboard now has the manuals...I swear I just looked the other day and didn't see them and didn't even bother to look earlier today.
Respironics is down near the bottom and the instructions for requesting the manuals are on the page.
Just make sure to request the correct model.

I suspect there will be a "short cut" up at the top like there is now with the PR S1 with pictures before long.
I see they have added the AirSense short cut link up at the top.
