Long Term Storage of CPAP

Post by joelrk35 » Sun Aug 30, 2015 8:08 pm

I have a new CPAP and will keep the old one as a back up. What is the best way to store the old unit. Should I run it periodically? Any input appreciated.

What I have done with mine is to put them in plastic bags (either the ones they came in or similar ones) and put them away in some storage place (closet, cabinet, etc.). Since I have a number of the padded travel/storage bags, I keep some of them in there, too.....complete backups, ready to go, in case of an emergency trip somewhere. I keep a couple out, readily available, for naps and whatever.....also wrapped in plastic to keep out the dust. I have cleaned all the (foam) filters in them before storage.
I don't have them buried too deeply as periodically during the year, I check the internal time clocks and bring them current.
Since 2010, I have alternated mine on a yearly (or multi-year) basis so I can sort of compare the data.
