Breating during the day

Post by Ryan D » Sun Aug 30, 2015 10:11 am

Hi All. I am very new to CPAP and notice a change in my breating during the day. It is hard to describe but feels different than before Cpap therapy. I find I am having to take really deep breaths occasionaly. If anyone else noticed a change in their breathing patterns during the day I would love to hear your story.

Now that you are using cpap, you are more aware of your breathing patterns--day and night.
You will notice for the first time things that are quite ordinary, and be concerned.
This is normal. As long as you have no difficulty breathing, there is little to worry about.
It is normal for breathing to be somewhat irregular while awake, in response to our oxygen needs.
Your body may also be enjoying all that extra air at night, and wants more in the daytime.
An occasional deep breath is good for you.

I noticed similar sensations early on, best described as feeling like I frequently needed more air. I just figured it was due to some other lung issues I have. Others have mentioned this on here. Don't remember that any reasons why were uncovered, just that it happens and some have reported it to self resolve. If yours doesn't resolve in a while, you may want to have your doctor make sure nothing else is going on.

Yep. Not at all unusual. Probably pretty common. I experienced it, too.

I notice this happen (although I do have significant lung-related problems to begin with) but the breathing patterns tend to normalize for me after I use my bi-pap for 4-5 days in a row. Whenever I slack off with my therapy it makes a huge difference and I have to start all over again.

I had that for the first several days. I'd describe it as an awareness of my breathing. It went away after about four or five days
