Help! my machine isn't responding to my Poweradd battery

Post by hegel » Thu Aug 27, 2015 10:49 pm

and I need it for the next two nights. I get a "machine requires service" message when I plug it into the Poweradd, and it won't start up. At least it still works when I plug it into my usual electrical socket. What am I doing wrong? I have it at 20 volts. As usual I waited too long to test this...what could go wrong, right?

20 Volts seems rather high for a device rated at 12 Volts. Any device that uses a cigarette lighter plug (such as a PRS1 12v plug) should be able to handle from 11.5 to about 15 volts because that is the expected range for battery banks and their charging systems. But 20V is in the dangerous overcharging realm. I thought people were using the 15 volt setting when the 12v setting tripped an undervoltage fault.

I use mine on the 12 volt setting for my 60 series.

thanks guys; the high voltage is quite possibly the problem. As it turned out, when I got to my retreat a room had opened up and I didn't have to use the battery for my machine. On my other "desperate for help" thread someone posted that they had also had this problem and that unplugging and replugging fixed it. they thought that it had to do with too much voltage. So I'll reduce the voltage output and try again (my options are weird and I chose 19--I'll start at 12--or the nearest voltage offered-- and see what happens). When it comes to me and electronics or computers, whatever can go wrong does. At least I didn't blow up my new machine!!
