Question onChanging my max pressure level and AHI events

Post by SleepyDeb » Sat Aug 29, 2015 8:23 am

Hi. I was tested as needing 5 - 15 pressure range for my cpap machine - using ramping. I found 15 was way too high and had doc reduce it to 10. I started having terrible cpap gas and figured out a way to reduce the pressure on my own - and I did to 8. My AHI events went down to 1.4 per hour - from 2.1, and the gas has eased up a bit. Can anyone tell me if this is safe what I did (reducing the pressure again)? I've only been using the machine for about 3 weeks. My chest feels tight in the mornings and takes me half a day to feel like I'm breathing normal, but I've been told that that is common for a while when you're new at it. I just don't want to be harming myself by reducing the pressure on my own. thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

As long as your AHI stays nice and low and you are sleeping better and feeling better then don't worry about reducing the maximum because it won't hurt anything to do that.
