Getting an ASV machine tomorrow

Post by Lancaster » Thu Aug 27, 2015 7:15 am

Recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea 36/hr; 70% central. I am getting a Philips Respironic 960 auto SV. Any advice would be welcome. I am totally new at all of this.

In the search box above type in 'autoSV' and you'll get tons of hits. Also try: 'newbie autoSV'. I got seven pages on that! They are great machines... I've got two. There's a bit of a learning curve and adaptation period but if you stick with it you can experience magnificent results.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Hi Lancaster:

Welcome to the Respironics ASV club.
If you haven't already done so, get a copy of SleepyHead and also of Encore so you can review your own treatment data.
Also, if you haven't got one already, get copies of your sleep study, sleep titration study, and your prescription for your machine and mask.

All of these will be useful in the future as you are looking at your data and trying to understand the management of your complex sleep apnea (a mixture of centrals and obstructives is called complex sleep apnea).
You will have questions as you go along so be free to post questions so you can get advice from other members of the club.
Cheers,

Welcome Lancaster!

As another member of the PR 960 club, I want you to know that this machine is awesome! I struggled with APAP, then BiPAP, before getting my ASV. What a difference.

There is plenty of experienced ASVers here who will certainly help you work out your therapy issues.

Welcome Lancaster! Sorry you had to join us.

Keep in touch here for help with any problems you have.

Some people find that their brain and ASV machine have a hard time learning to work with each other, but eventually end up figuring how to get along and have a happy marriage. Don't let it get you down if you find yourself fighting the machine at first.
