Resmed P10 and the 3am cleaning

Post by rohdej » Tue Aug 04, 2015 12:09 pm

I love my P10 pillows, but i recently had a bad night. With it being allergy season I was woke up to a wet plugged nose and nasal pillow I had to wash my mask. I have always been a morning washer but discovered at 3am that when the P10 mesh is wet it dose not act as a asphyxia vent it is mostly plugged solid . I had to plug the pillows to let the machine blow out the vent mesh to dry it. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've never experienced this. Could you just back off a little on your humidifier heat setting?

Condensation in the mask we call "rain out".
I use the P10 nasal pillows (have for 1 1/2 years now) and never had the vent holes get plugged up with moisture.
Check my posts here in this thread for possible solutions. I think posts #2 and #3.

If it is from the moisture in your own exhaled breath then reducing the humidity output from the humidifier may not resolve your issue. It's from a combination of moisture in the air in the nasal pillows cooling to the point of releasing the moisture and it cools because of the ambient room temperature is cool enough to cause that air to cool to the point of condensation. There are numerous ways of reducing the chance of the cooling and I think I covered them in the above linked posts.

If you aren't using a heated hose with your machine...that would be my first choice if it were me to warm the air up coming to the mask so less chance of condensation occurring without sacrificing humidity just in case your nose doesn't care for less humidity.

To remove excess water from the mesh, I blow through it. Yes, like blowing bubbles, only harder!
It is also a good idea to have a spare mask. I have a couple.
Sometimes the mesh gets gray and even a toothbrush will not get it clean enough.
That's why I bought a cheap generic water pic.
