PR System One Humidifier Popping Noise

Post by filovirus » Sun Aug 02, 2015 9:24 am

My PRS One is making a popping noise at the beginning of inspiration and expiration. It sounds like a diaphragm closing and seems to come from the humidifier unit. I cannot find any source and when I bypassed the humidifier the noise is gone.

Any ideas on this issue?

Thanks.

Take the water chamber out and look in the back for the little clear silicone gasket things and see if one of them maybe has come loose.
I think there are 2 of them.

I see three of them. One on top one that interfaces with the water chamber and one that interfaces with the main unit. They look worn and the top one has signs of mold. I am taking them out and washing them. Also ordering replacements from cpap.com. None of them seemed loose.

I don't see anything else that could cause the issue so maybe washing and replacing will help. I'll know more once its all back together.

Sounds like you found a problem... hope that works. I sometimes get that, but there are typically only a few pops. First of all, I turn off the machine then I pull out the water tank to check if the lid is seated correctly. There's enough play in the 2 hinges on the back side of the tank to allow the lid to be clamped down unevenly (a misaligned lid/gasket connection, IOW) These days I don't even have to turn on the light, I can simply tell by feeling around with my fingers if the tank lid is snapped down evenly all around. Of course, if the popping persists, try what Pugsy suggested... the tank gasket and the three round silicone seals, can be pulled out. There's a latch on the bottom of the humidifier that allows the whole assembly to be removed.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Lots of times people have reported similar popping noises and then found that they had their HH setting too high and there is water vapor condensing into liquid water in a low spot the hose and the air has difficulty getting past the obstruction.

Lower HH settings or keeping the hose and machine positioned so that a low spot won't occur so any excess water runs back into the HH tank may help.
