Hey all,
I've only been on CPAP for 4 days. My doctor recommended the Comfort Blue nasal mask, but it doesn't suit me at all. The ergonomics just don't work with my nose.
At the moment I have a REMstar 60 without a humidifier, and it is just fine. However, do I need to have a humidifier if I buy a nasal pillow mask? My doctor told me that if you don't have a humidifier when using nasal pillows, the nose will get irritated and sore. What are your thoughts on this?
Can I use a nasal pillow without a humidifier?
Re: Can I use a nasal pillow without a humidifier?
I use nasal pillows. I only use my humidifier in passive mode (distilled water in water chamber but no heat). I get some moisture that way but no heated humidity. I have never totally not used the humidifier though. Don't know what that would be like.
Hope some one using nasal pillows with no humidifier at all will reply but I don't know if there is any one who does that on the forum.

You can use anything without a humidifier, but you can also use Lansinoh cream (baby aisle in drugstore) for your nose. The humidifier wouldn't do much of a job keeping your nose from being sore.

Re: Can I use a nasal pillow without a humidifier?
When I'm traveling and using battery power I don't use my humidifier which may be up to 10 days at a time. I usually don't have a problem and if I feel a little dry I just use some saline nasal spray.
You would just have to try and see if your nose is ok with it. I don't think the type of mask makes that much difference.
