Please Help Me Interpret My Sleepyhead Results

Post by Heart Jumping » Sat Aug 01, 2015 5:57 pm

As I mentioned in another thread I have already sought professional help and waiting to get into a sleep study. In the meantime I purchased a CMS50D+ to do some testing myself since it was what I could get the most quickly. This is from my first night using it. I never took it off and had the alarm turned on so it would wake me if it came off or if saturation dropped below 85.

Some of the drops shown are for very short periods of time so I don't know if they mean anything, for instance by zooming the graph I could see a couple of drops at 89% for 10 seconds, an episode at 88% for 4 seconds, 87% for 2 seconds. If 93% is considered below average that lasts 3-4 minutes at one point. And while "18.24% of time spent in spo2 drops" and "197 spo2 drop events" sound rather ominous, it's all about context, so again, please advise.

Please note, you can click on each image to expand it and see more detail, three here:

This was a "mild" night FWIW, at least in the sense that I did not experience any waking up gasping or with heart pounding, I had something placed behind my back (since I'm usually on my back when those events occur) so I would not fall asleep on it.

Just ignore the date, it was from last night, not 12/31/1999 .

Thank you for any comments.

Here is another image from last nights sleep, I woke up when the alarm on my CMS50D+ went off, which I have set to 85. Again, not sure how relevant this is. My guess is that going down to 85% is a significant indicator of likely apnea, even if it was only for 25 seconds?

Can't wait til my CMS50i shows up from China, it's hard for me to fall asleep with the CMS50D+ and after a few hours it starts to drive me crazy and I have to take it off, just what you need when you already never sleep well!

Seeing that you're going down into the 80's at least is a good indicator that you need a sleep study. I would definitely try to keep on your side at night to minimize apneas and hypopneas. Once you get a sleep study and likely a machine, we can start interpreting your data from there.

Good luck.
