Large gap in front two teeth.

Post by Jannb7 » Mon Jul 27, 2015 10:08 am

I've used my c pap machine (with nasal pillows) for 7 months. I love the positive changes that have come from this... But~ After 6 months i got new head gear and hose. In the last month I've woken up several times with my gums hurting right below my nose. I didn't think anything of it. Now i am having to go into the dentist with a large gap between my two front teeth. It is crossing over the teeth next to them. Has anyone had to get a retainer or braces to fix this. They said "maybe we can fill in the gap) Well i don't want a quick fix i want, i want to do what's best and most cost effective..... afraid this is going to continue to spread my teeth?

Maybe you need to try a different mask style. I've not used pillows at all, so I can't speak to a way of adjusting yours to prevent this, but I'm thinking that pillows or a nasal mask would put some pressure on that area so you might want to try a full face mask which would bypass the area under your nose.

HI Jannb,
Seems to me you would want to visit an orthodontist for an opinion. It also seems reasonable that a retainer would help correct or prevent this problem. As mentioned, perhaps a different mask would help. You didn't say what type of pillow mask you're using now, but the Resmed Airfit P10 seems to require very little tension to remain seated.

The gap is usually caused by tongue thrust that you are not aware of. See an orthodontist. A regular dentist can't do a damn thing about it and it only gets worse with time.

Hmmm... I wonder if we have any dentists or even dental assistants on the forum that could contribute? Anybody know of one?

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Perhaps you are feeling the nose pillow and using your tongue to try and push it off your lip?
Sleeping MUCH better now
