POLL: "Lucid Dreams in 30 Days: The Creative Sleep Program"
I've been sorting through my bookcase for stuff to take to Goodwill and my eye fell on this slender volume by Keith Harary, Ph.D. (no university indicated) and Pamela Weintraub.
I'm pretty sure I bought this book before I knew I had OSA and abandoned it because at the time I couldn't remember any of my dreams other than all the ones about drowning, and I didn't really want to add lucidity to them.
I don't know whether to just donate the book without reading it, investigate it with an open mind, actually try the program or just mock it for the entertainment of the crowd here.

tl;dr acid trips without the acidWhatever the fantasy, you can, with proper training and practice, learn to fulfill it in your dreams. * * * We think you'll find this special skill a commodity at the turn of the millennium, in our pragmatic, technologically challenging, and often alienating world. * * * As you gain experience, your lucid dreams should become increasingly vivid and powerful. They should also give you greater access to the hidden stores of energy, wisdom, and experience you've gained in the course of your life.

In other words, it's for people who are having trouble coping with life. Instead of working hard, they are looking for easy solutions. Sigh.

Although...paradoxically...the program, as presented, seems like an awful lot of (misdirected) work.Chevie wrote:In other words, it's for people who are having trouble coping with life. Instead of working hard, they are looking for easy solutions. Sigh.

Donate it to the public library, if they will take it.
If it is available for free, there is at least one less sucker out there to be "taken".
Hopefully, a free reading will show people what it is really worth.
Edit: highlighting the stupid stuff, and adding insulting marginal notes might be fun before donating.

I'd have to dip it in a bucket of highlighter.chunkyfrog wrote: Edit: highlighting the stupid stuff, and adding insulting marginal notes might be fun before donating.

My first thought is toss it. But on a slow day it might be fun to pick it apart first.

Maybe have a look at this article published by Psychology Today online before deciding:
Lucid Dreaming and Self-Realization
Lucid Dreaming and Self-Realization
or notLucid dreaming is your chance to play around with the extraordinary abilities buried in unused parts of your brain.

I would pay to buy a book telling me how to stop having lucid dreams! I analyze enough in real life; I hate doing it while I'm asleep as well.
