gums and mouth going numb and tooth filling lose
I have been using a ResMed machine for about 3 weeks and my teeth and gums go numb and I have lost 2 fillings since starting, is this normal?
Re: gums and mouth going numb and tooth filling lose
Which mask are you using? At the very least consider loosening it or changing to one that has different pressure points. An ill fitting mask that pushes on the lip or gums can be problematic. Not sure about the fillings though. But I would seek prompt resolution.

I'm guessing from very little information, but you may be clenching your teeth. I'd talk with my dentist and see about a night guard, if that's the case, unless you can stop clenching them without that. Don't know exactly what's going on, but I've got no loose teeth or fillings after 3 years (or so *smile*) on cpap, and I think that's more the usual than the kind of dental problems that you're getting. I did have a couple of sensitive teeth for a while, but got through that and no longer have that problem. The sensitive teeth were from clenching my teeth when I started cpap.
Something to take a serious look at, you need to keep your teeth in good shape...mentioning what cpap mask that you're using would be very helpful.

I also think you are clenching your teeth. You might also try increasing humidity. See your dentist, but also contact the sleep doctor's office. There are special mouth guards that help protect your teeth as well as reduce the chances of developing TMJ. For whatever reason, you have anxiety and until that is resolved, this will continue.andyportsmouth wrote:I have been using a ResMed machine for about 3 weeks and my teeth and gums go numb and I have lost 2 fillings since starting, is this normal?

It would help to know what mask you are using and whether you are tightening it to reduce leaks. In general, the mask should "float" loosely on the face in order for tge air filled cushion to work. See my "Taming the Mirage Quattro" blog post below for a more thorough explanation.
I had major dental issues with the Quattro and I've switched to a nasal mask (Wisp) that takes all the pressure off my teeth and jaw.
