All done while you are awake and I can also do it when awake.
Let's see you blow up a balloon in your sleep.

I never alluded to being able to blow up a balloon in my sleep, simply that i can breath through my nose without any air escaping into my oral cavity, and thus out through possibly open lips.

This was my first attempt at a full face mask. I started mouth breathing last year and have tried chin straps, cervical collars, and mouth taping. I've been using 3M Micropore paper first aid tape, which has worked alright--I just don't like taping so I thought I'd try a full face mask when it was time to replace my mask.
I really wanted the Amara View full face mask to work out! It was soft and seemed much less cumbersome than other masks. I liked that it was under my nose instead of over it. Unfortunately, the Amara didn't work for me. The issues were:
1. Although I was fitted for the small size and it was comfortable when I tried it on, little leaks developed around the sides when I moved slightly. Occasionally, air would leak up into my eyes. I ended up tightening the mask so much that my head felt squished.
2. The headgear clips that attach to the mask are super loud when attaching or removing them! In trying to adjust the mask during the night, I kept waking my husband up with loud CLICKING noises. Moving them very s-l-o-w-l-y didn't muffle the end CLICK. I made MORE loud clicking noises when I took the Amara off to replace it with my old Tap Pap nasal mask plus tape.
3. The headgear is not comfortable on the back of my head and neck.
4. Worked on adjusting it the next day and eventually fell asleep for a nap. I woke up with the driest mouth I've ever had and extremely chapped lips. (Which doesn't go well with taping!)
4. Perhaps I'm just grouchy from not sleeping well, but the whole setup seemed much noisier than any other masks that I've tried.
I tried it for one more night but switched to my old mask after 1-2 hours. I'm returning the Amara and getting an F10 full face mask tomorrow. I know this sounds rather negative, but that's how it was for me. Trying to think positive for the F10--I hope it works for me!

Sunflower: check out the headgear straps at padacheek.com. They have the padded fleece strap covers that will fit most full face headgears. I use the same cover for my F10 and my Fitlife Total mask.

Hi Sheriff,
Thanks for the recommendation! I didn't know that padacheek.com made strap covers that fit the neck/back part of the headgear. I already returned the Amara full face mask due to the leaking issues. If I try a different mask in which the only problem is uncomfortable headgear, I'll give the padacheek products a try. I appreciate you sharing this!

I've tried using my Padacheek strap covers twice now with this mask and they caused so much leaking that I had to pull them off in the middle of the night. But the Amara View is such a huge improvement over the FitLife that I'm not going to complain.

I wonder if that's my issue. I put the strap covers on because I'm used to them and it felt weird without them, but I get the face farts about 3 times a week. Maybe I'll try it without them tonight.

I finally got this mask today and I will post my thoughts on it in a few days after I get a few nights sleep in it. In some quick testing to get the mask properly fitted it seems to be a nice improvement over the Quattro™ Air Full Face Mask with Headgear that I am currently using.
