New here

Post by ameslaw84 » Fri Jul 17, 2015 8:25 pm

Hey everyone,

Looks like I am joining you guys. I am a 30 year old female and have a rare bone disorder that has caused me to start having issues with sleeping and breathing. I finally went to a Pulmonologist and he suggested a sleep study. I did that on Tuesday night and was told my the tech a few things that happened. First, I wasn't really going into REM sleep. Second my oxygen was at 70% while asleep. He came in about 2 and put a cpap on me, and within 30 minutes I was asleep and slept for hours. He said my oxygen stayed on the 90s and I went into REM rebound for 4 hours.

I get an asthma test next week then follow up with my doctor. I suspect I also have a movement disorder too while asleep, but so ready to get my cpap to sleep better!

I have been reading for suggestions on machines to talk to my doctor about.

This video put the whole thing in perspective for me.
I was able to show it to family and friends so that they could understand also.

It should be required viewing for any one who is new.

I wish you well...

Sounds like your night in the sleep lab went exceptionally well. Let's hope your adjustment phase is equally impressive. If the movement disorder you mentioned is PLMD, or Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, we can talk about later if there's a need. For now, enjoy getting some much needed relief and sleep.
